Ugly memories of another leader

- Will Richan, Chester Jake McCormack, Jamison

To the Times: Echoes of Germany in the 1930’s?

A political party that had reached its nadir, in terms of seats in the legislative body, only a few years before, but then came roaring back to power against a divided opposition.

A leader, once written off as a farce, out to destroy anybody who stood in his way or failed to show proper respect, regardless of party affiliation, playing on people’s anger and pitting ethnic groups against each other, while those who sat on their hands far outnumbered the active opposition, either because they believed they personally had something to gain from supporting him or thought nothing could stop him.

Mail:

To paraphrase words by a prisoner in a Soviet prison camp where he died: I do not fear my enemies, for they can only kill me; I do not fear my friends, for they can only desert me; I fear most those who stand aside and allow my enemies to kill me and my friends to desert me. Will we repeat history? We will get a partial answer by November 2020.

Letters to the Editor, 639S. Chester Road Swarthmore, PA 19081 elected officials in the state took the time to both listen to my concerns and then personally follow up and get me an answer in less than one week.

The irony here is that Mr. Murt is not even my state representative. My family and I cannot even vote for him – yet he helped us anyway! I stopped him one day when we met, told him about my issue, and in a week, it was resolved.

Thank you to Rep. Thomas Murt for his outstanding service to our Commonwealth and to all Pennsylvanians. The 152nd District is blessed to have a devoted public servant and (not a politician) working on your behalf.
