DeAngelo helps keep Swarthmore perfect with win

The kid from Aston is having a big season for the No. 1 team in the nation.

Freshman Vinny DeAngelo, an All-Delco player last year at Sun Valley, poured in

27 points Saturday to carry undefeated Swarthmore to a

96-69 rout of Dickinson. DeAngelo finished 6-for-8 from the field and 12-for-12 at the free-throw line. He added four assists and five rebounds for the Garnet

(23-0). Conor Harkins and Zac O’Dell added 11 points apiece in the winning effort.

Swarthmore blew open a five-point halftime lead, and outscored Dickinson, 5230, in the second half while shooting 19-for-23 at the charity stripe.

WILLIAMSON 92, KING’S 43 >> Vontangoe Donzo (Penn Wood) posted 17 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks to lead the Mechanics (15-11) to victory in their season finale. Nazhir Goldston notched 12 points and 10 assists. GWYNEDD MERCY 69, NEUMANN 64 >> Waheem Lowman went for 20 points and Sanoussi Abdourhama­ne registered a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, but the Knights lost their fifth game in a row.

STEVENS 75, EASTERN 61 >> Draig Ruff paced the Eagles with 14 points and 112 rebounds. The loss knocked the Eagles (14-9) into a tie for second place in the MAC Freedom.

MCDANIEL 81, HAVERFORD 66 >> Joe Hartman (14 points), Joe Wujciak (12) and Jack Cork (10) each scored in double figures, but the Fords had trouble slowing the visiting Green Terror, who connected on 60.8 percent (31-for-51) of their field goal attempts.

After taking a five-point lead into intermissi­on, the Fords were outscored, 4828, the rest of the way. PSU-SCRANTON 112, PSUBRANDYW­INE 110 >> Pat Gallagher (Marple Newtown) scored a career-high 40 points, but Brandywine suffered an overtime defeat on senior day. Gallagher drilled five 3-pointers and dished out six assists. ALVERNIA 67, WIDENER 64 >> The Pride trailed by as many as 19 points in the second half as the Golden Wolves

(12-11) spoiled senior day at Widener (18-5).

Connor Laverty notched his third double-double of the season with 12 points and

12 rebounds. AJ Sawyers and Kolbey Woodard gave a boost off the bench, tallying 12 and

10 points, respective­ly.

Women’s

Haverford establishe­d a program record with its 10th consecutiv­e victory, downing visiting McDaniel, 63-44.

It marks the third straight season the Fords have hit the 20-win plateau.

Anna-Sophia Capizzi scored 24 points and Megan Furch set a personal high with 20 points. Cortlyn Morris dominated on defense with eight blocks. WIDENER 77, ALVERNIA 65 >> Devan Rimmer netted 16 points and Jordan D’Ambrosio (Springfiel­d) contribute­d seven points and nine rebounds for the Pride (19-4), who continue to match their best start in program history. Nicole Barnes (Garnet Valley) pitched in with 12 points. PSU-BRANDYWINE 79, PSUSCRANTO­N 39 >> Nikki Velez led the way for Brandywine with 27 points and four steals. Madison D’Ambrosio (Springfiel­d) amassed 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Amanda Floyd (Interboro) chipped in with 10 points and 10 boards.

TEMPLE 76, HOUSTON 75 >> The Cougars made a layup as time expired in regulation, not the 3-pointer they needed to force overtime. Mia Davis powered the Owls with a game-high 27 points.

LA SALLE 59, SAINT JOSEPH’S

53 >> Claire Jacobs paced the Explorers (11-14) with 18 points, five rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

The Hawks (8-16), who dropped their sixth straight decision, received a 17-point performanc­e by Gabby Smalls. Kelly Jekot added 12 points. GWYNEDD MERCY 110, NEUMANN 89 >> Chelsea Keebler led five Knights in double digits with 18 points on six 3-pointers. Kiara Stovall recorded 16 points and 10 boards.
