Clement agrees to 1-year deal

- Staff and wire reports

Corey Clement will remain a Philadelphia Eagle.

The team announced Wednesday that it has agreed to a one-year deal with the free agent running back. Terms were not released but Dave Zangaro of NBCSports in Philadelphia reported that it was for the league minimum of $825,000.

The Eagles released the Glassboro, N.J. native and Wisconsin product March 16, which made him an unrestricted free agent.

Clement missed most of the 2019 season with a shoulder injury suffered in Week 2 that limited him to four games. He was eventually placed on the injured reserve list. He also went on IR in 2018 with a knee injury.

As a rookie in 2017 Clement amassed

493 all-purpose yards and scored six touchdowns. He rushed for 321 yards and four TDs that season and caught 10 passes for 123 yards and two scores, and added another 49 yards on kickoff returns. Clement had 100 yards receiving in the Eagles’

41-33 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, the most receiving yards by a rookie in the Super Bowl. His

55-yard reception set up the Philly Special that gave the Eagles a 22-12 halftime lead, and he also scored on a 22-yard pass from Nick Foles in the third quarter.

Despite the injuries, Clement has posted 1,367 all-purpose yards and scored eight touchdowns in the regular season. He’s added another 219 all-purpose yards and one touchdown in the playoffs.

He joins a backfield that includes returnees Miles Sanders and Boston Scott. Sanders, a second-round pick in the 2019 draft, ran for 818 yards and three touchdowns in 2019 to become the starter. Scott tallied 721 all-purpose yards last year and finished with five rushing touchdowns.

The Eagles also signed Elijah Holyfield at the end of last season and added Cincinnati’s Michael Warren and Adrian Killins of Central Florida as undrafted rookie free agents. Jordan Howard was allowed to sign a free-agent deal with the Miami Dolphins, Darren Sproles retired at season’s end.
