Berry was the first to arrive at the address while responding to a report of a gunshot victim. Denniston suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was dead by the time Berry arrived, according to the release.
Multiple eye witnesses allegedly told lead investigators Dave Tyler of the
Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division and Clifton Heights Police Sgt. Stephen Brown that Ryan shot directly into the victim’s back using a semiautomatic handgun shortly after arriving at the property that night.
Stollsteimer commended the investigators and Clifton Heights Police Chief Timothy Rockenbach on the arrest.
“I have said it before, but it bears repeating: Even in the midst of the crisis caused by the coronavirus, our law enforcement personnel are on the job working to keep everyone safe, and to solve crimes,” Stollsteimer said. “Every day they put themselves on the line for all of the residents of Delaware County.”
Ryan was remanded to the county prison in Concord without bail due to the murder charges. No court hearings have been scheduled.
