GET ON THE SAME TEAM

- BOB FROM SHARON HILL

I’m delighted to read Jeff Edelstein’s column “Police and the public have to be on the same team”(July 7) and glad he’s back writing for Delco Times. He mentioned the internal bickering and backbiting that occurs within the police department. Yes, I can believe that. I read about the corrupt cops in Philly detailed in the fictional book “Long Bright River” by Liz Moore. I strongly recommend reading this novel. Thanks to Mr. Edelstein for sharing his story of his encounter with the police. I experienced similar encounter where the cop was very disrespectful to me - maybe because I was a female. He was so rude because he knew he could get away with it.

Many years later, I was stopped by another cop for a broken headlight. This cop was sweet and polite - can’t be more than 20 years old. The underlying issue is that some cops are power-hungry and feel they can do and say whatever they want, while others take their profession seriously, courteous to citizens and abide by the law. The former ones need to be rooted out immediately. Then, perhaps, the police and the public can be on the same team.

WAKE UP, JOE

Why do Democrats want to do away with police? No arrests will cause more problems. There’s no leadership with the Democrats. They’re radical and dumb as a bucket of rocks. Biden is one of them. I wonder if he recognizes his wife now. Why should he have protection if the rest of us can’t? He’s not special. We are taxpayers and we support the police officers without police protection. We have no country. Biden better wake up and support the police and support our country and statues and monuments. If not, then he’s not worth protecting.

YOUR VOTE COUNTS

The Supreme Court has upheld a law that says electors in the Electoral College must, under penalty, vote along the lines of the popular vote. That is, they cannot switch candidates. This is a big step in protecting the rights of the American voters, especially during this election where we have a corrupt “president” who will absolutely try to cheat the system any way he can to win, knowing that each day that passes he gets further behind. Even Republican leaders want him out and are supporting Joe Biden. Biden might not be the best candidate we have but at least he will serve his country instead of himself.

LOWEST OF THE LOW

Donald Trump’s speeches over the 4th of July weekend were full of hateful rhetoric. On the birthday of our country when we are supposed to be united. Donald Trump did nothing but try to divide the country even further. This proves again that Donald Trump is a horrible, horrible person. And there’s also more proof that the claims of people that they are good people even though they support Donald Trump are completely false. You cannot be a good person off when you support someone as disgusting and despicable as Donald Trump, who will use the birthday of our nation to try to divide people.

GIVE SENIORS A BREAK

I got my school district school taxes today. I’m 86 years old and do not have that kind of money. I paid their taxes since 1956. I think there should be a cut off after a while. We old people don’t have that kind of money.

WHAT A JOKE

Donald Trump’s ad saying you won’t be safe in Joe Biden’s America’s is one of the dumbest, most ridiculous montages I’ve ever seen in my life. You have to be a complete moron to believe that idiotic commercial. But I’m sure there are millions of people in the country who will believe that because Trump supporters are just that stupid.

THE BIGGEST LOSER

I just wanted to know why our president is all of a sudden getting involved in sports, taking aim at NASCAR and Bubba Wallace. Why, because he’s black? I mean, I don’t understand why he’s criticizing the Redskins and the Indians because they want to make name changes and again because they feel it’s the injustice. And again, he’s looking at it as racial. He’s also looking just to get some publicity for himself. He wants to keep his face and his name in the limelight.
