2011 police budget was the main topic of conversation during Bethel’s budget hearing. The proposed budget, which includes salaries, training, uniforms and equipment, police cars and anticipated purchases, totals more than $863,000, not including the chief’s or lieutenant’s salaries of FICA taxes. Resident Bernadette Lincoln was against those calling for downsizing or eliminating the township police. She said her family moved to Bethel about 12 years ago and found the state police to be slow in responding to calls. “We had to wait for one or two hours to get a response,” said Lincoln.
