RADNOR » During the month of October, the Sports Legends of Delaware County Museum will present a special exhibit in the Mickey Vernon/Danny Murtaugh Gallery on Mike Scioscia’s Treasured Keepsake.

Springfield High School graduate Mike Scioscia is the former All-Star catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers and former manager of the

2002 World Champion Los Angeles Angels. Instead of choosing one of his World Series rings from his 13 seasons with the Dodgers or his World Series trophy from his stint at the helm of the Angels, he selected the heartfelt baseball glove to exhibit at the local museum.

The baseball glove belonged to Mike’s brother Rick, who graduated from St. James High School in Chester in 1962.

“He passed it down to me,” Mike explained. “I have great memories of having a catch with him in our backyard in Morton in the early 1960s. It’s one of my favorite baseball things.”

“Mike’s Wilson Ball Hawk glove has seen better days,” said Jim Vankoski, curator of the Sports Legends Museum of Delaware County, “but it serves as a tangible reminder of his Delaware County childhood. Likewise, it illustrates why Mike is one of Delco’s most beloved sports legends.”

The museum located at 30 Iven Ave., Radnor, is opened 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday and by appointment 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Mask is required.

Contact Jim Vankoski at 610-909-4919 or email vankoski21@comcast.net for more information.

$118,000. This year’s monetary goal is $115,000 for the silent auction. For more information and bidding, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/641396926348374.
