There is a way forward to control gun violence

- Ann Colby-Cummings, Chairperson, GunSenseUs, Chester County

To the Times:

Each year, over 100,000 Americans are shot and injured or killed. More and more of us know someone whose family has been shattered by gun violence.

Many despair of solutions to reduce the carnage. In fact, there are three policies that non-partisan polling shows over 70% support by both gun owners and non-owners. This election, GunSenseUs has asked candidates to support our B.E .T. consensus agenda: B - a Background check for every gun purchase; E – an Extreme risk protection order to enable law enforcement or families to petition for temporary gun removal; T – Training before first gun purchase, an approach modeled after the Hunter Safety Cer tification PA has had in place for decades.

We are pleased that the following Delaware County candidates have pledged their support to this common-sense, consensus agenda: For state Representative – Anton Andrew (D

160th district), Dave Delloso (D

162nd), Mke Zabel (D -163rd), Deb Ciamacca (D -168th); and for state Senate – John Kane (DSenate 9th), Tom Killion (R-9th).

We encourage voters to suppor t candidates who support the B.E.T. agenda. Not sure your candidate’s position? Ask.

While there are many contentious issues this election, asking for support of policies with over 70% support by both gun owners and non owners is just common sense. Let your candidate know you care … help us all make our Best B.E.T. for Gun Safety.
