Fingerhut paces Haverford to 3 wins

Ethan Fingerhut and Patrick Lawson took the top two spots to help Haverford open the Central League boys cross country season with wins over Conestoga

(21-34) Radnor (17-38) and Marple Newtown (15-50) at Rose Tree Park on Saturday.

Quentin Ryan (fourth), John Galligan (seventh) and Anthony Lawson (ninth) also finished in the top 10 for the Fords. Conestoga defeated Radnor (17-36) and Marple Newtown (16

50), while Radnor defeated Marple Newtown (15-50). Jack Halberstad­t placed sixth to lead Radnor.

HARRITON SWEEPS » Leo Pearlstein was first and Joseph Challisery placed third to lead the Rams past Springfiel­d (22-35), Penncrest (22-33) and Ridley (15-50).

Samarth Khandelwal (fifth), Gavin Mogck (seventh), Christophe­r Mayo (ninth) and Kadin Salaria

(10th) paced Penncrest past Springfiel­d (26-32) and Ridley (15-50).

Andrew Fox and Paul Lombrana placed second and fourth respective­ly for Springfiel­d, which topped Ridley, 15-50.

Girls Cross Country

Maura Timoney, Nicole Rodriguez and McKenna Loney placed second, third and sixth, respective­ly, as Haverford defeated Conestoga (20-40), Radnor (20

42) and Marple Newtown

(18-46).

Molly Ryle (fifth) and Julia Harris (seventh) were the top finishers for Conestoga, which defeated Radnor (25-30) and Marple Newtown (43).

Amelia Gelhus (sixth) and Bella Stein (10th) led the way as Harriton topped Springfiel­d (23-36) and Ridley (19-44). Mara Fallon was fifth for Springfiel­d, which defeated Ridley, 19-44. STRATH HAVEN A TRIPLE WINNER » Gwyneth Stach led the way as the Panthers placed six runners in the top 10 to beat Garnet Valley (24-37), Upper Darby (15-49) and Lower Merion (15-49). Hannah Barkdoll, Paige Day, Rowe Crawford, Hannah Prokup and Chloe Browne finished fourth through eighth.

Garnet Valley’s Winnie Incorvala was the overall winner as the Jaguars defeated Upper Darby (24-35) and Lower Merion (21-38). Ashleigh Lustgarten placed third overall for the Jags.

Freshman Laureli Golembiews­ki placed ninth to help Upper Darby top Lower Merion, 27-29.
