Artur scores first regular-season MLS goal; Crew tops NYC FC

COLUMBUS, OHIO » Artur de Lima Junior and Pedro Santos scored and the Columbus Crew beat New York City FC 3-1 Sunday night, snapping a four-game winless streak.

Artur opened the scoring in the 26th minute with his second career MLS goal and first in the regular season. New York City’s Keaton Parks deflected an entry pass from Emmanuel Boateng and Artur won a free ball and rolled a rightfoote­r between the legs of goalkeeper Sean Johnson.

Santos scored to give Columbus (10-4-4, 34 points) a

2-0 lead in the 50th minute. The 32-year old has scored six goals this season in the last nine games.

NYCFC’s Valentín Castellano­s answered with a goal in the 55th minute, and Gyasi Zardes put away the rebound of his own stopped penalty kick to cap the scoring in the third minute of stoppage time.

RED BULLS 1, ORLANDO CITY

1» Brian White scored in stoppage time, helping New York Red Bulls to draw.

After a New York corner kick bounced around and was eventually cleared out of the area, White corralled an errant shot by Jason Pendant, turned and rolled a right-footer just inside the post in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Nani scored on a penalty kick in the 56th minute after New York’s Daryl Dike conceded a foul in the area.

New York (7-8- 4, 25 points), which has just one win in its last five games, outshot Orlando City 14-9 and had 58.8% possession.

Orlando City (8-2-8, 32 points) is unbeaten in 12 games, yet has only one win in its last five.

TORONTO FC 1, ATLANTA UNITED 0 » Pablo Piatti scored on a header in the 89th minute to give MLSleading Toronto FC a victory at Rentschler Field.

Piatti redirected Richie Laryea’s entry just inside the far post.

Toronto (12-2-5, 41 points) has won five of its last six games and is unbeaten in its last nine, dating to a 3-2 loss to Vancouver on Sept. 5.

Brad Guzan had five saves for Atlanta (5-9-4, 19 points). It is winless in its last four games.

Toronto’s Michael Bradley entered the game in the 20th minute, his first appearance since injuring a knee against Montreal Sept. 1.

Toronto was set to charter home after the game to spend two days with family, under quarantine, before returning to East Hartford to prepare for a game Saturday at Philadelph­ia.

D.C. UNITED 2, FC CINCINNATI

1» Chris Odoi-Atsem scored his first MLS goal, lifting D.C. United.

Odoi-Atsem gathered a rebound on the right after keeper Robert Edwards’ save created the ricochet, scoring in the 78th minute.

D.C. United (3-10-6, 15 points) won for the first time since Sept. 2, a 1-0 victory over the Red Bulls.

Bradon Vázquez knotted the score at 1-1 at the

66th minute for Cincinnati, which fell to 4-11-4.
