Fisher Tank Co. celebrates Employee Ownership this month

CHESTER » Employees at Fisher Tank Co., founded in 1948 and headquartered in Chester, are proudly celebrating National Employee Ownership Month throughout the month of October.

The 72 year old company is 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. It operates offices and fabrication facilities in Chester and Leesville, S.C., and has a presence in Cropwell, Ala., and Atascadero, Calif.

Fisher Tank Co. is a field-erected welded steel tank contractor, providing engineering, fabrication, construction, maintenance and repair for storage tanks for customers in a variety of industries, including municipal water storage, bulk liquid storage terminals, power generation, chemical and petrochemical production and storage, military and commercial fueling, manufacturing, mining and other applications. Most of the customers the company serves are essential industries in the country’s energy, transportation, water and other key sectors.

The company’s employee owners will participate in Employee Ownership month with special activities, including a month-long food drive to benefit local food pantries, celebratory socially distant ESOP meals, and special Fisher Tank Co. ESOP goodies for all members. According to a company spokesperson, Employee Ownership Month is an opportunity to celebrate the success of the organization and to recognize the value of employee ownership as well as the value of the employee owners.

This year, the company is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the formation of its ESOP. There are approximately 7,000 ESOP companies in the United States, covering nearly eleven million employees. About 4,000 of those ESOP organizations are 100% employee owned. Fisher Tank Co. is one of those 100% employee owned organizations. For Fisher Tank’s employee-owners, the ESOP offers an opportunity to plan for a successful retirement.
