Media Borough Council appoints new borough manager
MEDIA » Media Borough Council appointed Brittany Forman, MPA, PMP, to the position of Borough Manager of Media on Oct. 15. Forman will serve as the top administrator of local government, managing the daily operations of borough staff, with the exception of the police department employees. Forman replaces former borough manager Jeff Smith.
Forman said she looks forward to working with borough staff and meeting borough residents.
“I’m truly honored to have been selected for the Borough Manager position and excited to join such a dedicated group of public servants,” Forman said. “For years, Media Borough government has been providing residents with efficient and effective government services. I look forward to continuing this trend, while meeting the new challenges of today, supporting our talented workforce, and modernizing our internal processes.”
Prior to joining the borough administration, Forman worked as a director at Econsult Solutions, Inc., an economic consulting firm based in Philadelphia. She served as the lead director in the Government and Public Policy practice area, where she led projects in the areas of municipal consulting, community and economic development, economic inclusion, and nonprofit management. She helped clients assess budgets and policies, evaluate programs and operations, conduct stakeholder outreach, and quantify economic impacts.
In 2013, Forman worked in the City of Norfolk, Va., in both the executive and legislative branches of government. As assistant to the mayor, she was the primary liaison to citizens, community, and government agencies providing executive communication and support. While in the Department of City Planning, she gained intimate knowledge of planning, zoning, permit, and development processes while conducting efficiency evaluations and providing research and policy recommendations.
In 2009, Forman was selected as a U.S. Presidential Management Fellow - the federal government’s flagship leadership development program. From 2009-2013, Forman served as a budget analyst at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She managed a portfolio of several hundred million dollars where she gained valuable experience in budget preparation, program management, and policy development. In addition, she led the annual process for reviewing agency-wide performance goals.
Forman holds a master’s degree in public administration from the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s in economics from the College of William and Mary. In 2015, she became a certified project management professional (PMP)® by the Project Management Institute.
Forman lives in Media with her husband and two sons. She is an active member of the Delaware County Black Caucus, the NAACP Media-area Branch, and previously served on the board of trustees for the Media-Upper Providence Free Library.

Runners invited to Bates Motel for Monster Mayhem 5K and Monster Mile races
Runners from the tristate area are encouraged to race in person in the family-friendly Monster Mayhem 5K or the Monster Mile at Bates Motel, 1835 Middletown Road, Glen Mills, on Saturday, Oct. 31. Heats for the Monster Mile will begin at 8:45 a.m. Halloween morning and heats for the Monster Mayhem 5K at 9 a.m. A virtual race option is also available.
Families and individuals are permitted to race in costume as the course moves through the heart of the haunted hayride at Arasapha Farm.
All proceeds of the Monster Mayhem and Monster Mile support Healthy Kids Running Series programs ensuring kids can maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.
Registration includes a Monster Mayhem TechT shirt. Medals will be awarded to first-, secondand third-place winners within each male/female age group. Registration can be made in advance at https://runsignup.com/ Race/PA/GlenMills/MonsterMayhemBatesMotel.
Masks are required to be worn by spectators and attendees while on site. Hand sanitizer will be provided onsite as well to help keep all families safe and comfortable during race day.
The Healthy Kids Running Series is a twice-ayear five-week program in both fall and spring with age-appropriate race distances for children between two years of age and 14. Kids compete each week in-person or virtually, on a course of their choosing.

DCCC holds virtual open house events for prospective students
Delaware County Community College will hold four virtual open house events in October and November that will enable prospective students to interact with representatives from the college’s academic divisions and student services departments, as well as with current students and alumni to explore College academic and training program offerings.
Open house par ticipants also can learn how to become involved on and off campus, how to receive help registering for classes as well as information about the college’s enrollment process and how to apply for financial aid. Throughout these open house events, participating students and their families will have the opportunity to have their questions answered from college representatives.
The open house events are scheduled for the following times and dates:
• Saturday, Oct. 24, 10 a.m. to noon: Allied Health & Nursing
• Thursday, Oct. 29, 6 to 8 p.m.: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM); and Skilled Trades, Advanced Manufacturing and Emergency Services.
• Thursday, Nov. 5, 6 to 8 p.m.: Business, Computing & Social Science (BCSS); and Communication, Arts & Humanities (CAH).
• Saturday, Nov. 7, 10 a.m. to noon: Online Learning and Student Services.
