Chester cops seeking Impala used in fatal shooting
CHESTER » Polic e are searching for a “rounded style, light silver Chevy Impala” that was involved in a shooting death in the city Monday afternoon, according to a release from Police Captain James P. Chubb.
Officers were called to the area of Ninth and Tilghman streets at about 12:57 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle accident, according to the release. While en route, they were updated that there was a call for shots fired in that same area.
Responding officers found a gray Ford Fusion that had struck a pole in front of 1425 W. Ninth St. The occupant of the vehicle, identified as 62-yearold Diana Davis, was unresponsive, according to the release. Officers noticed two bullet holes in the passenger door and trunk area of her vehicle.
Paramedics who extracted Davis from the car to treat her discovered she had been shot in the side, according to the release. She was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for further treatment, but succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later.
Officers established a crime scene at Ninth Street and Central Avenue, where numerous shell casings were found, according to the release. Police also found another vehicle there that been hit by gunfire and was occupied by two women and a 1-yearold.
The occupants of the second car told officers that they heard numerous gunshots going off in the area and realized that their vehicle had been struck several times, according to the release. None of the occupants of the second vehicle were injured.
