Shiller’s three goals pace Garnet Valley to win over Marple

Garnet Valley’s girls soccer team celebrated the life of a former captain prior to a 3-0 victory over Marple Newtown.

Alicia Babiak, a 2005 graduate, died suddenly four years ago. To honor her memory, Garnet Valley each year votes on which player will wear Babiak’s No. 16 jersey. This year it’s All-Delco Carlie Shiller, who netted three second-half goals in Tuesday’s match, the fifth annual game in Babiak’s memory since she passed away in Aug. 2016 at age 28.

Alyssa Wert added two assists and goalie Kayleigh Saboja earned the shutout.

Boys Soccer

Cole Levin, Zeke Garner, Ryan Parker and Jack Dill all scored a goal in Delco Christian’s 4-0 win over Phil-Mont Christian. Corin Sacks and Declan Thompson both supplied a pair of assists.

In the Catholic League: BONNER-PRENDERGAS­T 2, CARDINAL O’HARA 1 » Gio Karasavas and Rasheed Thomas scored in the firsthalf for the Friars. Tommy Dening made five saves between the posts.

Luca Galetti tallied for the Lions and John McGettin had 10 saves.

In the Central League: RADNOR4,STRATHHAVE­N1» Drew Warren dished out a pair of assists for Radnor. Sebastian Kaper, Matt Miller, Colin Cheshire and Peter Vitale tallied one goal each.

Volleyball

Abi Herrin recorded 11 digs, 10 kills and six blocks to help Ridley come from behind against Springfiel­d and earn a 3-2 Central League victory Monday evening.

The Green Raiders won the first set, 25-13, before dropping the next two 23-25 and 18-25. Ridley edged Springfiel­d 25-22 to even the score at two, before taking the fifth and final set, 15-7.

Casey Tinney (27 assists, 12 digs), Makenzie Griffith (13 kills, 21 digs), Mia Campanile (14 kills, nine digs) and Anna Borcky (eight kills, five blocks) also contribute­d.

TOWN0» Maddie Wood dished 23 assists and five aces to help GV roll 26

15, 25-5, 25-10. Mary Pearl Tienabaso (three blocks) and Kathryn Wright added six kills apiece, while Caitlyn Hagerty pitched in with five kills and three aces for the Jags. Dinah Stabinski had five aces and Alivia Scerba provided excellent defense.

In the Catholic League: BONNER-PRENDERGAS­T 3, ARCH. RYAN 0 » Sam Lachette powered the Pandas to a 25-11, 27-25, 25-12 win with nine digs, five kills and five aces. Alyssa Gannon, Bern Logan and Keira Henrich each finished with four kills.

RIE0» On senior night, seniors Erin Corcoran (13 digs, seven kills, two aces, one block) and Emma Karn (eight digs) paced the Lions to a

25-13, 25-23, 25-19 success. Annie Corcoran chipped in with 27 assists, seven digs and two aces. Liz Cuskey added five kills and two blocks.

Field Hockey

Radnor defeated Strath Haven, 5-1, in a Central League contest.

Sheila Esgro tallied the game’s first goal in the first quarter for the Raiders. The host Panthers answered when Milly Pellegrini as time expired in the opening period.

The Raiders scored the next four in the second half, one each by Cierra Hopson, Madison Milhous, Gracie Bookbinder and Hope Delaney.

In nonleague action: NESHAMINY 3, ARCH. CARROLL 1 » Grace O’Neill scored the Patriots’ lone goals, assisted by Julia Kingsbury.
