34 on a cool and foggy Saturday night in the Swamp.

York drilled his kick through the dense fog and the uprights, leaving Florida with a final shot. Trask got the Gators (8-2) in position to tie it, but Evan McPherson was wide left from 51 yards on the final play. LSU

(4-5) celebrated wildly.

Johnson had a lot to do with the outcome. The son of former Super Bowl champion Brad Johnson repeatedly torched Florida’s beleaguere­d defense. He threw for 239 yards, nearly half of them (108) to Kayshon Boutte, and ran for 52 more.

Florida didn’t help itself with three turnovers in the first half.

McCall needed just 45 seconds to move the Chanticlee­rs, who didn’t have any timeouts, 75 yards for the score. He completed all four of his passes, three of them to Heiligh.

Arizona fires Sumlin

TUCSON,ARIZ.» Kevin Sumlin set a decent foundation his first season at Arizona, winning five games and just missing a bowl game. The program went on downward trend in the two years since, the wins dropping each season.

Arizona fired Sumlin on Saturday, a day after a 70-7 loss to Arizona State extended the Wildcats’ losing streak to a record 12 games over two seasons.

Fuller kicks 2 extra points

NASHVILLE, TENN. » Sarah Fuller kicked two extra points to become the first woman to score in a Power Five conference game, finally getting the chance to do more than squib a kickoff for Vanderbilt during a 42-17 loss to Tennessee.

Fuller cleanly converted both of her kicks, to the cheers of her teammates and family. “This whole time has been if I can do it, if I’m good enough to do it,” Fuller said. “It wasn’t if I was a girl or not. So that’s something I’ve really appreciate­d. At the end of the day, they treated me like an athlete and that’s the best I could ask for.”

Herman returning

Texas has ended widespread speculatio­n about coach Tom Herman’s future, announcing Saturday he will return in 2021 for his fifth season with the No. 23 Longhorns.

Eyes around college football have been on Texas for weeks. Texas is 6-3 this season after its scheduled regular-season finale Saturday at winless Kansas was canceled.
