15 to Know aims to bring peace of mind to customers

- Mike Dershowitz, CEO and Founder, Fair Trade Outsoucing

To the Times:

Regarding the article dated Dec. 1, 2020, “Start up runs into coronavirus testing challenges:”

As a social entrepreneur my goal has always been to start and operate companies that serve the greater good. 15 to Know was founded 50 days ago and has administered over 32,000 COVID tests. We aim to provide peace of mind to those living in the communities we serve and provide a vital service to those living and working therein.

Admittedly, as with many startups, we faced operating challenges as we ramped up and opened new sites. We needed to learn as we grew and have implemented changes based on the feedback we’ve received from our patients and staff. These challenges were exacerbated by the surging demand for COVID tests coupled with a severe backlog labs are dealing with across the country. These labs process PCR tests.

Patients that were affected by the surge in COVID cases, and hence our service, have been reimbursed for any expense they incurred and have been contacted by customer service to ensure they are made whole.

While we hope to begin administering PCR tests again when lab capacity and efficiency increase, we want to ensure patients are receive their results in a timely manner. For that reason, for the foreseeable future, only rapid antigen tests (results in about 15 minutes) will be available at 15 to Know.

Both Dr. Kapelusznik and I have dedicated our lives to helping those in need and serving the greater good and we intend to continue operating 15 to Know consistent with those values.
