A letter filled with irrational absurdities

- Daniel J. Pompilii, Aston

To the Times: In response to the Letter to the Editor prepared by John E. Fitzgerald, “Hatred has brought us to the brink of socialism”, Dec. 18, 2020, the content and tone of this letter shows great anger by Mr. Fitzgerald and is a perfect example of why there is no longer room for conversation and debate with political and social issues.

The letter states the leftist socialists have now stolen the election and responsible Americans may have to take up arms against these socialists. Who are these socialists that the need to be eliminated by force: Democrats, Independents, Republicans who do not fall in line? Mr. Fitzgerald mentions “rightthinking people.” Are these right thinking people only those who agree with his views?

The letter insinuates that Nancy Pelosi will “get rid of Joe Biden” by way of the 25th Amendment. Vice President Harris will become the “radical socialist” president who aligns with Planned Parenthood to promote abortions and encourage anti-Christian hatred. Apparently, Mr. Fitzgerald has no perception that these thoughts are completely absurd. Where and how does someone come to these ideas and further believe they are facts? As a side note, Vice President Harris’s record as a prosecutor provides no evidence that she will advocate radical socialism.

The letter content goes on to conclude President Harris will select a radical socialist vice president that will result in a cabal aligned with Cuba and China, Americans will live in dictatorship and we will lose America’s position as a leader for democracy. I again ask how any of these thoughts are rational?

I am a proud American and can only conclude that Mr. Fitzgerald’s thoughts and ideas are disturbing and radical.
