Elizabeth “Betty” Perrone Hopkins

-

Elizabeth “Betty” Perrone Hopkins, a resident of Doylestown, PA, passed away suddenly at Doylestown Hospital on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the age of 74.

Betty was born in Upper Darby, PA to Lillian and Francis Perrone and was the oldest of eight children. She was a student at St. Madeline’s in Ridley Park, a graduate of Archbishop Prendergast HS in Drexel Hill (1964), and was a business major and graduate of Widener University in Chester (1984).

Betty enjoyed gourmet cooking, decorating, and spending time with friends and family. She would often combine these hobbies by hosting many events in her home with beautiful table settings and great food. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Leigh, and their marriage was a source of joy for both of them. Together, they enjoyed playing golf, traveling with friends, and attending many family milestone celebrations like weddings, dance recitals, graduation ceremonies, baptisms, and more. Betty was always the life of every party and loved meeting new people.

She treated her nieces and nephews and greatnieces and nephews like they were her own. She loved taking them on annual outings to celebrate Christmas: even one year renting a limousine to take the group to Philadelphia to see the Nutcracker.

She had an empathic spirit; and had an open heart and mind for others by celebrating their successes, and comforting them in their pain and disappointments. She loved choosing gifts for others for every occasion, and took pride in presenting them in the most beautiful wrapping. Her best quality was her willingness to help and serve others, of which many of us were the beneficiaries. Her welcoming and kind heart will be missed by all.

She is survived by her mother, Lillian Perrone, step-daughters Heather Heathwood (Matthew) and Chris Grassel (Ron), step-granddaughter Maddie Grassel, siblings Jean Furmaniak(Fred), Marge Foust (Marv), Frank Perrone (Sandy), Larry Perrone (Kim), Michael Perrone (Alice), Diane Delman (Frank), Robert Perrone, 13 nieces and nephews, and 17 greatnieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her husband Leigh on 12/1/2020.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation https://sandyovarian.org/.
