Time will tell what Joe Biden can do

- John Nash, Glen Mills

To the Times:

So, President-elect Biden is being critical of the Trump administration for the pace of the vaccine process. He seems to have convenient memory loss. Does he not remember the debacle of the Obamacare rollout? The computer crash of the attempted sign ups. The failure by the company hired by Michele Obama ,headed by a college friend, and it took them three months to correct the situation.

In three months time a significant number of Americans will already be inoculated against this deadly virus.

Dr. Fauci had cautioned at the outset of the virus that it could be two years before a vaccine was manufactured and approved by the FDA. Operation Warp Speed cut that time line by about 60%. Prior to the vaccine, ventilators and additional temporary hospitals including ships were at the ready. Sure there were logistical problems but the cooperation among the private sector, the military and the government was commendable.

Obama and Biden had difficulty overcoming a computer glitch. I think the effort of the administration and its partners was amazing. And the real heros are the doctors, nurses and front line workers who were tireless in their dedicated effort.

Mr. Biden won the election and could have taken the high road in acknowledging the success of the collaborative accomplishments of all instead of targeting the outgoing administration. He will have his chance soon enough.
