John Mark Griesmeyer, 66, of Brookhaven, PA, passed away of a sudden serious illness on December

4, 2020 at Crozer Chester Medical Center. John was known as “Mark” most of his life to family and many friends.

He was born in Upland, PA, on August 28, 1954, the son of Thelma H. Griesmeyer (nee Halvorsen) (1998) and John Bromley Griesmeyer (1990) both of Wallingfor­d. He was a

1972 graduate of Nether Providence High School and studied at the University of South Carolina, graduating with a degree in History. He also took courses in Education at Widener University while working as a Reading Specialist for middle school students. He was employed by the Delaware County Library System until his retirement.

John Mark was a member of First Baptist Church of Media since his baptism and was passionate about his faith in Christ. Born and raised in Wallingfor­d, he moved to Brookhaven in 1998. He had varied interests and liked movies, baseball, trivia, cooking of many cuisines, and enjoyed the sun, especially at the shore. He loved cars – especially of the 1950’s and 60’s, particular­ly Chryslers; reading and history, especially about World War II. He also loved all kinds of music, from the hymns he sang at church to the heavy metal and Moody Blues and Rolling Stones of his youth in his vinyl record collection.

Mark was known for his sense of humor, wit, stoicism, faith, and positive attitude in the face of challenges. Surviving Relatives: Sister Marie Rauch (Reno, NV), Nephew John Engblom (Los Angeles, CA), and Cousins Bonnie Broomall, Beth Overall, Barbara Jenkins, and Betsy Apanowicz.

Memorial service at First Baptist Church of Media at 6 pm on January 9, 2021. Masks & social distancing required. Services will be live-streamed. Private Interment Lawn Croft Cemetery.
