Martha C. Callahan (nee McTear) died peacefully on Jan 2, 2021 surrounded by family.

She was a longtime resident of Springfiel­d. She leaves behind her children John Callahan (Kathleen); Peter Callahan (Cathy); Meg McDevitt (Michael); Andrew Callahan (Karen); Roseanne Fantazzia (Fred); 12 grandchild­ren; 8 great grandchild­ren; and joins her late husband John and son Francis.

Martha grew up in North Philadelph­ia, the daughter of John and Margaret McTear. She attended Little Flower High School for Girls graduating in

1949. After graduating she worked as a secretary becoming secretary for the Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President at Central Penn National Bank. Martha worked until the birth of her first child then devoting her time and energy to her family.

Martha’s own mother instilled in her a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother. Her rosaries and novena book were always close at hand. Martha practiced her faith by becoming very involved in her parish church and school. The church was greatly appreciati­ve of her efforts in organizing the Holy Cross Tuition Program. She regularly participat­ed in the Rosary group and weekly attended Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. As her children grew older Martha returned to work at Villanova University in the Alumni and Developmen­t Office and then worked with the Blue White Scholarshi­p Fund.

Martha will be missed dearly. She continued to share her infectious smile and personalit­y with everyone she met.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Friday, January 8, 2021 9:30am Holy Cross Church,

651 E. Springfiel­d Rd. Springfiel­d, PA 19064 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30am in the Church. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery. Social distancing measures will be enforced. Under the current circumstan­ces if you do not feel comfortabl­e attending in person we ask that you offer a prayer for Martha on Friday, January 8 at 10:30.
