Reverend Thomas J. Furey, Villa St. Joseph, Darby, died on Saturday, December 26, 2020.

Father Furey was born on May 28, 1945 in San Francisco, California. He was the son of (the late) John & Dorothy (Jamieson) Furey.

Father Furey attended Most Blessed Sacrament Parochial School and West Catholic High School for Boys, Philadelph­ia before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. Father Furey was ordained on May 19, 1973, at The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Peter and Paul, Philadelph­ia, by John Cardinal Krol.

Father Furey served as Assistant Pastor St. Cyril Parish, East Lansdowne; St. Joseph Parish, Downingtow­n; St. David Parish, Willow Grove; St. Vincent De Paul Parish, Richboro; St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Croyden; St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Philadelph­ia; Parochial Vicar, Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Secane; St. Bede the Venerable Parish, Holland; and St. Mary Parish, Schwenksvi­lle. In 2002 he was appointed Pastor at Mother of Divine Providence Parish, King of Prussia. Parochial Vicar, St. Mary Parish, Schwenksvi­lle; St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Springfiel­d; St. Eleanor Parish, Collegevil­le; Senior Priest, St. Matthew Parish, Philadelph­ia.

Father Furey was an avid Notre Dame fan, loved vacations in Wildwood, NJ, classic movies, and rooting for all Philly sports teams.

He is survived by his brothers, John (Alice), Robert (Jane), his sisters, Maureen Romanelli (Nicholas), Eileen Koch (Stephen). He is predecease­d by his sister Dorothy (Quinn). He is also survived by 3 nieces, 2 nephews and a great nephew and niece.

651 E. Springfiel­d Rd. Springfiel­d, PA 19064 and to his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM in the Church.
