Pittsurgh man charged in fatal Chester shooting
CHESTER » Police announced the arrest Monday of a Pittsburgh man wanted for the October shooting death of 31-yearold Kenny Mister in the parking lot of a local motel.
Nathaniel ThurmondWillis turned himself in to Pittsburgh authorities and is being housed in Allegheny County Jail, according to a release from city Police Commissioner Steven Gretsky. He is facing charges including firstand third-degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
Officers were dispatched
to the Days Inn at 1300 Providence Ave. at 7:58 p.m. Oct. 27 for a report of a shooting victim and found Mister in the west side parking lot area, according to police.
Mister appeared to have suffered numerous gun
shot wounds and was bleeding profusely. Paramedics treated him on scene and rushed him to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for further treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.
While on location, officers received information that there was a second victim in the area of 1410 Providence Ave. Upon arrival to that area, they found a black Chevy Equinox occupied by Najee Walker, 31, who had been shot in the stomach area. Walker was also taken to Crizer, where he was listed in fair condition.
Thurmond-Willis was identified as a suspect in early November following an intense investigation by Chester Detective Brian Pot and Delaware County David Tyler. He is scheduled to be transported from Allegheny County to Chester Jan. 26.
