The perfect demonstration of white privilege
To the Times:
On behalf of the National Congress of Black Women, Delco Chapter, (NCBW Delco Chapter), we watched in horror as Trump supporters stormed the Capitol Building under the guise of peacefully protesting as they formed an insurrection against our nation.
This breach of security and seizure of the center of democracy our Capitol Building was fully planned out and orchestrated by those willing to not just cause harm but even cause death to certain elected officials.
We the NCBW Delco Chapter denounce their horrendous action, calling it an insurrection stopping the Electoral College proceedings by any means necessary.
These protestors did not exemplify a peaceful demonstration. No, they embodied an angry mob a homegrown terrorist group fueled by lies from Trump and his henchmen spreading the election was stolen from them.
They came to the Capitol intentionally with one thing on their mind to perpetrate a coup or an uprising against our democracy. These white supremacy groups inflicted sorrow and pain, bloodshed, loss of lives and shame and disgrace here in America and overseas.
Our country stands on the principle that all people have the right to exercise their freedom of speech and the right to a peaceful protest. This was not the case. The world witnessed the double standard in America policing and securing the nation’s Capitol with regards to race.
During the BLM march in August, there were an abundant of National Guards on site to ensure no one marched near the steps of the Capitol. However, last Wednesday Trump’s insurrectionists not only marched on the steps but seized the Capitol Building. I ask the question, if those protestors were Black, wouldn’t there have been more arrested, wouldn’t there have been more injured, wouldn’t there have been more killings? We saw a justice system for whites, and another for Blacks. This is an example of white privilege and more, democracy.
Therefore, the NCBW calls for those insurrectionists to face the full effect of our justice system for their part in the desecration at our Capitol. Our leaders must come to the table to have the conversation of systemic racism in America.
