Edna Margaret Wisnewski

-

Edna Margaret Wisnewski (nee Piasecki), 96, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord on January 13, 2021.

Edna was born in Philadelphia on November 2,

1924, one of ten children to Louise and Zygmont Piasecki. Both of her parents died when she was four years old, so she and three of the younger siblings were raised in a home for orphans. She learned resilience at a young age and how to survive in trying circumstances. At the age of 13, she went to live with an older brother, Lawrence, and his family. She attended Glen-Nor High School and excelled at sports. After graduating in 1942, she worked for several years and met her future husband, John, during “the War”. Edna and John married in August,

1947. In a few years the young family moved to Clifton Heights, PA, to a small tidy duplex where they raised their three children. Edna proudly lived there the rest of her life.

Edna is survived by her three children: John Wisnewski (Carol), Marie Wilson (Bob), and Dave Wisnewski (Prissy) and her twin brother, Edwin Piasecki. Edna has seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren whom she loved visiting and being a part of their lives. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Wisnewski; brothers - Lawrence, George, Richard, and Albert; sisters – Helen Piasecki, Adelaide Hoy, Grace Stiehl, and Jessie Chelius; and granddaughter Amy Wilson.

Edna loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the loving matriarch of her Wisnewski clan delighting in every wedding, birth, and birthday. She also enjoyed traveling, going out to eat, playing games, and being an expert at crossword puzzles. Her deep faith in the Lord was the cornerstone of her life and was a wonderful example and legacy to her family and friends. Edna still lived independently at home and enjoyed welcoming visitors and loved ones over. She drove several friends to the supermarket and to church each week. Also, Edna enjoyed volunteering at other church activities like Vacation Bible School, Memorial Lunches, and weekly Bible study.

Edna’s many family members and friends will miss her fun and giving spirit.

Due to Covid-19, burial will be private.
