Lazarus P. “Larry” Kirifides

(1932-2021) Lazarus P. “Larry” Kirifides was born on December 5,

1932 in Chester, PA. He was the son of Paul and Elizabeth (Tsirona) Kirifides.

Larry graduated from Chester High School in 1950. He was a proud Marine and served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War in 1951.

Larry graduated from the Pennsylvan­ia Military College (now Widener University) in 1959. After graduation, Larry married his wife and the love of his life, Martha Pulos. They moved to Wallingfor­d, PA where they raised their family.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Martha. He is also survived by his daughter Lisa Trivelis and son-in-law Jim, his daughter Sophia Maddesi, and his grandchild­ren Nicholas and Lexi Trivelis, and Anthony Maddesi. He loved his grandchild­ren and was very proud of them. He was predecease­d by his sisters Anna Stamboulid­is, Helen Mears, and Mary Andreades.

Larry loved to play and watch football. He played high school varsity football and one year of college football at Franklin & Marshall College, before an injury to his knee ended his playing days. He and Martha were big baseball fans as well and spent many hours together watching the Phillies and the Yankees.

Larry has been a Public Accountant since 1962, opening his first office in Chester and then moving it to Brookhaven in 1976. He never retired! He enjoyed following and investing in the stock market and watched the business channels for hours each day on cable.

Larry was very active in St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Chester since 1943, where he served as an altar boy for 8 years and as the church accountant for 25 years. He was a member and past president of the Order of AHEPA, Chester-Delco Chapter 79. He was also a member of Chester Lodge 732 Free & Accepted Masons for over 60 years and a member of the American Legion Post 926 in Aston, PA.

For those who knew Larry well, he was a smart, humble, caring, faithful and giving man. He had many friends and a great sense of humor, always telling jokes and kidding around. Larry helped and supported many people, organizati­ons and charities, always wanting to stay anonymous and without recognitio­n. His generosity will be remembered.
