Delco students shine on campus

SCRANTON » Local residents were among more than 1,800 students named to The University of Scranton’s Dean’s List for the 2020 fall semester. The Dean’s List recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the semester to make the Dean’s List.

GETTYSBURG » Gettysburg College students whose semester averages were 3.6 or above were recently placed on the Dean’s Honor List. The following local students have been awarded this outstandin­g academic achievemen­t in the Spring 2020 semester: Madison Caccese of Chadds Ford, Frank Fumo of Thornton, Sydney Goldberg of Media, Elizabeth Healy of Garnet Valley, Adrienne Poissant of Media, Cameron Shaffer of Rose Valley, Maria Simeone of Garnet Valley, Rachael Wiseley of Glen Mills, Connor Elliott of Media, Leah Hill of Media and Madalyn Ruffini of Media.

Students with a quality point average in the range of 3.300 to 3.599 for a semester’s work are placed on the College’s Deans’ Commendati­on List. Abigail Richard of Springfiel­d has been placed on the Deans’ Commendati­on List for outstandin­g academic achievemen­t in the Spring 2020 semester.

BETHLEHEM » Christophe­r Mills of Media and Natalie Novotni of Aston were among the 798 students named to the Dean’s Honor List for the Fall 2020 semester. Undergradu­ate students who carry three or more course units during the fall or spring term and attain a GPA for the term of 3.50 or higher are placed on the Dean’s Honor List.

University of Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH » The University of Utah announced more than 9,700 students who were named to the Fall 2020 Dean’s List. Ella Wood of Glen Mills, whose major is listed as Biology BS is among the List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term.

Widener University

CHESTER » The Widener University Band announced that Lauren Rappa of Springfiel­d was one of four Widener students who performed in the College Band Directors National Associatio­n (CBDNA) Intercolle­giate Marching Band (IMB). Rappa joined nearly 1,500 nominated performers from 200 bands in 45 states and Puerto Rico, all working together to produce a virtual college marching band show. Rappa (color guard) is a sophomore English major at Widener University.

Joining in unity during a time when college marching bands have been forced to the sidelines, the CBDNA IMB kept the spirit alive by performing virtually together. This unique project combined college marching bands from different conference­s, regions, and styles in a single performanc­e. The Intercolle­giate Marching Band performed “End of Time” by Beyonce in a video that premiered online on the Intercolle­giate Marching Band YouTube channel and at the stadium during halftime of the College Football Playoff National Championsh­ip Game on Jan. 11.
