Funk paces Saint Joe’s to third straight win

Saint Joseph’s is heading into the Atlantic 10 men’s basketball tournament on a roll.

Taylor Funk, who was named Big 5 Player of the Week earlier in the day, poured in 22 points to lead five players in double figures as t4he Hawks beat Richmond, 76-73, Monday night to close out the regular season on a three-game winning streak.

Rahmir Moore threw down a dunk with seven seconds left to seal the victory. He finished with

10 points, one of five SJU players in double figures.

Cameron Brown added

15 points. Ryan Daly (Archbishop Carroll All-Delco) contribute­d 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Jordan Hall posted a double-double with 11 pints and 10 boards for the Hawks (4-14, 3-9 Atlantic 10).

ALBRIGHT 78, EASTERN 72 » Jordan Guerrero and Corey Simmons combined for

28 points and 15 rebounds to pace the Lions. Both scored 14 points. Guerrero pulled down eight rebounds and had four steals while Simmons had seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

Joshua Grant topped Eastern with a game-high

16 points. Kaeshawn Ward added 15 points and six steals, while Terron Bacon added 11 points.

Women’s Basketball

Neumann shot 7-for-8 from the free throw line in the final 27 seconds to pull out a 60-54 victory over Southern Virginia.

Kiara Stovall drilled a pair of foul shots to give the Knights a 55-52 lead. Lauren Leicht made 1 of 2 and Tierra Harris drained four straight free throws in the final four seconds to seal the victory.

Harris paced Neumann with 17 points. Dymond Collins added 15 points and Jaylin Ortiz pitched in with 14 points.
