“Why am I having these problems?” “Why am I facing terrible opposition?”

“How come things are just not going my way?” sometimes you may ask yourself.

Maybe it is not because of something you did, or did not do. Or where you were, or where you are today… but perhaps it is where you are going in your future.

When you are near to realizing your Godinspired destiny, don’t be surprised if you have to confront difficulties. And when you get very close to achievement, that is when trouble can really try to overtake you. For every so often, events beyond our comprehension throw us for a loop. It is then that we must hold steady and not be discouraged, because in an instant our situation can completely and positively transform for the better.

Do you know that something wonderful is just up ahead?

You may be a few steps away from victory so, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer” (Romans 12:12). Thus, press forward. Help is just around the corner and will arrive sooner than you think. It is just a matter of time before situations turn in your favor.

Many years ago, I traveled to California for a vacation. While there, my friend, Ellen and I visited San Francisco. Sightseeing, we saw many of the tourist attractions such as Fisherman’s Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge and also the famed Lombard Street, which is extremely steep and winding, as the narrow road curves dramatically from side to side.

Our travels through life are not always a smooth, straight pathway. Life is more like Lombard Street in San Francisco with its hairpin twists and sudden turns. But we can take comfort in knowing that when we face the unexpected curves and steep valleys, we are not alone. We can lean on God, for He has promised He will be there to bring us through and help us to make the turns safely.

“I will do what I can and let God do the rest,” said a co-worker of mine who was facing a troubling circumstance. We were in the office, as she told me about her dilemma. I admired her strength and I said to her compassionately, “Situations may not be fair at times, “I replied. “Yet, our God is a good God. And who knows what phenomenal things are just up ahead, as you continue striving in faith?”

My co-worker didn’t give up or give in to defeat. She carried on in faith and trust and gained so much wisdom from what she was experiencing. Hence, she could help others who might go through the same thing at some point in their lives. It didn’t happen overnight. But within time, my co-worker’s problems turned around and, thankfully, worked out better that expected.

In view of that, let us not let road blocks dominate or defeat us. Hindrances or past failures do not have to stop us from accomplishment. When we are trying to achieve a dream or overcome an obstacle, there will always be challenges. Somewhere I read that the best inventions in the world have had hundreds of failures and opposition before answers were found. For setbacks can only make you try harder the next time and you can appreciate that success when it does come to you.

Therefore, don’t waste time and energy talking over and over about adverse conditions. Forget about them and look at the positive side. Believe in your unique abilities, expel negative thoughts and imagine yourself sweeping away that obstacle and achieving your goal.

With an optimistic mindset, set your sights high. There is no situation that can hold you back, because your attitude is what is most important. So, continue on the right path, work hard and pray, as you keep being good to people. There is no lasting happiness or self-esteem produced by personal success unless you are dedicated with an unselfish purpose to helping those around you.

Try this: Call to mind instances in your life when even the hardest situations worked together for good. Jot them down in a notebook. Challenges can create in you great compassion, love and understanding for others.

Recently, a reader sent me an email and wrote, “Several major things have happened with my husband and I since last year. However, the peace of God that passes understanding covers us. We are learning from our experiences and praising God for what He is doing in our future.”

There are great things forthcoming, as you have not seen your greatest accomplishments yet. Accordingly, be at peace and put your present-day difficulties into God’s kind hands. He will work His wonders in ways, we don’t always understand.

A new beginning is in store for you. Hence, start each morning with His word firmly planted in your mind recalling, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:2). Take time to separate yourself from the countless demands upon you and go to a quiet place in your home or yard. There, allow yourself to be calm, to pray, and to meditate on God’s wisdom for daily living. The promises of the Bible offer hope, limitless possibility and assurance that all will be well.

And when the road you are traveling on is permeated with twists and entwined with curves, remember that God is an ever-present help in time of trouble. God will honor your faithfulness. And He will be with you through everything, for His presence will be your safety and defense. Before long, challenges will be transformed to glory, and past tears of sorrow will become tears of joy.

Psalm 84:11 says, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: The Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Keep doing the right thing. You are close to your breakthrough.
