Alleged fentanyl dealer arrested in Chester
CHESTER » Members of law enforcement arrested three men Thursday while serving a warrant at a home on the 800 block of MacDonald Street, according to a release from Police Commissioner Steven Gretsky.
Chester Police Officer John Benozich and members of the Chester Narcotics Unit, Delaware County Drug Task Force and F.B.I. Violent Crimes Task Force executed the federal arrest warrant for Kevin Argro at about 4:45 p.m.
Argro was wanted for the delivery of 50 grams of the powerful synthetic opinion fentanyl, according to the release. Officers were also armed with a search warrant for the property.
Argro was seen exiting the front door with several other men and taken into custody, according to the release. Two other men were also taken into custody for multiple outstanding warrants, the release says. All three were transported to police headquarters for processing while officers conducted a search of the property. Officers seized $5,067 in cash, along with cell phones and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, according to the release.
Argro is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Dawn Vann, who set bail at $500,000 cash. Argro has been committed to George W. Hill Correctional Facility awaiting a preliminary hearing, scheduled for April 20.
“Fifty grams of fentanyl when broken down for street sales would result in the distribution of more than 1,600 individual servings of a drug that is destroying families and communities on a daily basis,” said Gretsky. “We will continue working hard with the District Attorney’s Office and our federal partners to investigate, arrest, and prosecute traffickers who sell fentanyl with no regard for its effect on this deadly epidemic.”
