Clark, Gougler triple up as Springfiel­d nets rout of Ridley

Springfiel­d used seven unanswered goals in the middle two quarters to run away from Ridley in a 13-3 boys lacrosse win Saturday.

Jack Clark and Brett Gougler contribute­d three goals and an assist each. Bryan Seavey had a goal and an assist, and Jake Methlie went 9-for-9 on faceoffs.

PENNCREST 13, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 6 » Dylan McDougall scored five goals and added an assist as the Lions won their eighth straight game to start the season.

Jason Poole scored four times, and Brennan Kaut paired three goals with three assists. Andrew Wickman led a stellar defensive effort with 11 saves as Penncrest led 11-0 at halftime.

MARPLE NEWTOWN 17, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 4 » Charlie Box and CJ Lane scored four goals and five assists each as the Tigers rolled. Damien Bosche and Josh Yukenevitc­h also scored four times each.

MALVERN PREP 16, EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 5 » Max Strid scored twice, and TJ Lamb dished three assists, but the Friars had too much firepower for EA.

Girls Lacrosse

Cierra Hopson, Sheila Esgro and Karis Mameniskis each tallied hat tricks as Radnor rolled past Haverford, 161, on Saturday.

Tori DiCarlo and Sarah Kelley added two goals apiece to the rout. Kelley, Mameniskis and Esgro each added an assist.

Rory Turner stopped 14 shots for Haverford, which got its only goal via Izzy McGarvey.

CARDINAL O’HARA 19, MARPLE NEWTOWN 5 » Ellie Miller had a hand in 10 goals with five goals and five assists as the Lions scored 12 times in the first half.

Mia Scarduzio scored three goals and three assists, Lexi Culp found the back of the net four times and Rachel Familetti added a hat trick.

Kylie Goia scored three times for Marple and led the Tigers with nine draw controls. CARDINAL O’HARA 14, GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 10 » Rachel Familetti scored seven times as the Lions outlasted GA on Friday. Claire Natolie scored three times, Mia Scarduzio added two goals and five draw controls and Mackenzie Hand stopped 16 shots.

Baseball

A furious Haverford School rally wasn’t enough, the Fords losing in walk-off fashion in a thrilling nonleague game with La Salle, 8-7.

Haverford School trailed 6-1 but rallied to take a 7-6 lead. The Explorers, though, answered with single runs in the sixth and seventh to prevail.

The big blow in the Fords’ comeback was struck by Colby McNeely, his bases-clearing double driving in three during a four-run fifth. Jake Stacey doubled among two hits. Mike Tallarida (triple, RBI) had two hits and scored two runs. STRATH HAVEN 6, HAVERFORD 3» Brett Mutz pitched into the sixth inning, striking out seven and scattering three hits for the Panthers Friday.

Haven led 6-0 before withstandi­ng a three-run bottom of the sixth from the Fords. Koll Peichel tripled, Mike Valente scored twice and Jack Ryder drove in two runs before finishing the game on the mound.

Hunter Kraiza and Kyle Heston drove in runs for Haverford.

CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 14, CHURCH FARM 3 » Evan Sareyka drove in four runs, scored twice and nearly went the distance on the mound in a Crusaders win Friday.

Sareyka hit his 100-pitch limit after 4.2 innings, allowing just one hit, two earned runs, walking six and striking out 10. Lars Specht tripled, singled and scored three times. Colton Haseltine and Marcus Lacy drove in two runs each.

Softball

Kelsey Racine tossed a complete game, striking out 13, and added two hits and an RBI as Marple Newtown topped Archbishop Carroll, 2-1, to remain unbeaten.

Racine went the distance, scattering four hits, allowing one earned run and one walk. She also doubled. Lindsay Walsh added two runs, and Abby Smith provided an RBI base hit in Marple’s decisive two-run sixth inning.

Gianna Liciardell­o nearly matched Racine zero for zero. She tossed six innings, relenting six hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Lauren Martin drove in Cheyenne Niehoff (single, double) for Carroll’s run.

Track & Field

Marple Newtown’s Ethan Stourousky won the boys 110-meter hurdles and triple jump and was second in the 300 hurdles at the Marple Newtown Invitation­al, which brought together five squads from Delco.

The hosts cleaned up. Ricky Lee won the boys 1,600 and 3,200. Joel Zacharias led a 1-2 in the 200-meter dash and was second in the high jump. Mairead Moran won the girls discus and shot put, while Morgan Hopson won the javelin and was second in the discus.

Chester’s Walton Garnett bested Stourousky in the 300 hurdles to match his 400 dash title. It paired with Alina LaForest’s title in the girls 400.

Mekhi Harrison won the boys 100-meter dash for the Clippers. Kimani Johns won the girls 200 and was third in the 400, while Taniyah Lawler won the 800. Jiya Clayton, LaForest and Lawler took the top three spots in the 300 hurdles.

Strath Haven’s jumpers showed well, with Nathan Finnell winning the boys high jump and Jed Liu the long jump.

Cardinal O’Hara produced two double winners: Thomas Smith (boys javelin, shot put) and Sarah Lorenz (girls 1,600, 3,200). Notre Dame freshman sprinter Grace Galia stood out, winning the 100 dash and the long jump.

At the Twin Valley Invitation­al:

Penncrest’s Anna Fonarov took second place in the girls 400-meter dash, and Kelsie Robinson earned the silver medal in the girls 800 Friday.

On the boys side, Penncrest’s 4 x 400 relay took second. Benjamin Miller captured second in the pole vault. Hannah Puckett was fourth in the 3,200, as was Matthew Sparling in the javelin.
