Wong’s layup a last-second winner for Miami

BOCA RATON, FLA. » Isaiah Wong made a go-ahead layup with 0.7 seconds left to give Miami a 68-66 victory over Florida Atlantic on Tuesday night.

Miami opted to not to take a timeout after FAU tied the game with 11 seconds left. Wong brought the ball up and shook his defender to get inside the lane for a contested finish, and FAU was not able to hit the rim on a heave at the buzzer.

Wong, a Bonner-Prendergas­t AllDelco, finished with 18 points for Miami (2-1).

Kameron McGusty added 14 points and Wooga Poplar 12.

Forrest scored 21 points for Florida Atlantic (1-2). Alijah Martin had 17.

Krzyzewski’s grandson amond 2 Duke players charged

HILLSBOROU­GH, N.C. » The grandson of Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and the coach’s prized freshman recruit who’s considered a top NBA prospect face charges related to impaired driving, according to court records.

Michael Savarino, Krzyzewski’s grandson, was pulled over for a stop sign violation in rural Orange County just after 1 a.m. Sunday, said Sgt. Chris Knox, a North Carolina State Highway Patrol spokesman. Savarino, a 20-yearold junior, was driving teammate Paolo Banchero’s white Jeep and admitted he had consumed “several shots,” court records said.

A test showed Savarino had a bloodalcoh­ol content of 0.08%, the level at which a driver is considered impaired.

Banchero, who was riding in the back seat, was cited for aiding and abetting impaired driving and was released at the scene, Knox said.

Michigan extends Howard

ANN ARBOR, MICH. » Michigan coach Juwan Howard and the school have agreed to a five-year extension that keeps him under contract through the 2025-26 season.

The Wolverines won their first two games this season and are contenders to win the national championsh­ip. They went 23-5 last season and won the Big Ten title.
