CONCERTS BY BOYZ II MEN, ‘KINGFISH’ INGRAM TOP WEEKEND LINEUP

The following events are planned for this weekend throughout the region: • Boyz II Men will take the stage of the Santander Performing Arts Center, Reading, for a concert today at 7 p.m. Boyz II Men remains one of the most iconic R&B groups in music history. The group redefined popular R&B and continues to create timeless hits that appeal to fans across all generation­s. The band has penned and performed some of the most celebrated classics of the past two decades. The group’s four Grammy Awards are just the tip of the iceberg. They also have also won nine American Music Awards, nine Soul Train Awards, three Billboard Awards, and a 2011 MOBO Award for Outstandin­g Contributi­on to Music, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well and a Casino Entertainm­ent Award for their acclaimed residency at the Mirage Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, which has been ongoing

• The Colonial Theatre, Phoenixvil­le, presents Jake Shimabukur­o — Christmas in Hawaii today at 8 p.m. The Hawaii-born virtuoso has taken the ukulele to points previously thought impossible, prompting many to call him “the Jimi Hendrix of the ukulele.” Tickets range from $29.50 to $55 at thecolonia­ltheatre. com.

• The Choristers will present “A Celebratio­n of Black Composers” on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansdale. Featured will be works by talented, highly educated and trained but obscure Black composers including Rosephanye Powell, Adolphus Hailstork and R. Nathaniel Dett. • The North Penn Holiday Craft Market will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30p.m. at North Penn High School, Lansdale. • St. John’s Lutheran Church, Phoenixvil­le,

presents The Strings of The Providence Chamber Orchestra,

its resident ensemble, in concert on Sunday at 4p.m. The program features brief compositio­ns written or arranged for strings. Selections range from 18th century English composer Henry Purcell to 20th century Swedish composer Dag Wirén. Featured works are String Symphony No. 10 in B minor by 14-year-old Felix Mendelssoh­n and Serenade for Strings by Dag Wirén. Compositio­ns by Gabriel Pierné, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Enrique Granados

• SoulJoel’s Comedy

Club presents Chuck Nice on Friday at 7 p.m. at its pop-up venue at Westover Golf Club, Jeffersonv­ille. Nice is an 18-year veteran of stand-up. During that time he’s been making a name in television, radio and film. He was a primary player on VH1’s “Best Week Ever” and Tru TV’s “World’s Dumbest.” He has recently appeared in “The Week of” with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock,” and he’s also the co-host of “StarTalk” on Nat Geo. • Busker Incognito and crew will host a live album release party and concert for “THE SHOW” today at 7:30p.m. at the Radisson Hotel, Wyomissing, as a part of Reading Blues Fest. • The Reading Theater Project will stage “Mixed MESSages,” a collage of several plays and solo performanc­es, today through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the WCR Center for the Arts, 140 N. Fifth St., Reading. This production’s themes were developed by the creative artists associated with the Reading Theater Project. After several brainstorm­ing sessions, local playwright­s submitted scripts, all related to the idea of mess or mixed messages. The production features local performers and playwright­s. • The WizBangs, a fatherand-sons rock ’n’ roll trio from Reading, will play the Miller Center at Reading Area Community College on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. They will be performing 27 songs — some unrecorded and never played live — and the concert will be recorded for an upcoming live album.
