Vaughns leads Neumann in blowout of PSU-Lehigh

Jalen Vaughns missed just three shots, two from the field and one from the foul line, as Neumann rolled to its second straight win with a 93-57 victory over Penn State-Lehigh.

Vaughns, a 6-foot-7 sophomore, shot 13-for-15 from the field and 4-for-5 from the line for a gamehigh 30 points. Kyson Rawls backed Vaughns with 15 points. Tony James contribute­d 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights (5-3). WIDENER 77, FARMINGDAL­E STATE 66 » Jared Peters paced five players in double figures with 15 points, six rebounds and two assists to lead the Pride (4-1) to their fourth straight win.

Pat Holden added 14 points, four rebounds and three assists. Kolbey Woodard chipped in with 12 points and Steven Matlack and Matt Daulerio contribute­d 11 points each. TEMPLE 75, DELAWARE 74 » Khalif Battle save nine of his game-high 29 points for the final 3:49 to help the Owls erase a 65-60 deficit. Battle hit a 3-pointer with 2:08 left to put the Owls up to stay, 69-67. Tai Strickland drained two free throws with 15 seconds remaining to give Temple a 75-71 lead.

Kevin Anderson got the Blue Hens to within 75-74 and they had a chance to win it, but a 3-point try by Haverford School All-Delco Jameer Nelson Jr. at the buzzer was off the mark. Damian Dunn added 13 points and Jeremiah Williams 11 for Temple. Anderson had 26 points for Delaware. Dylan Painter chipped in with 21 points and Nelson Jr. had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Women’s Basketball

Temple’s Alexa Williamson saved her second blocked shot of the game for just the right moment.

Williamson blocked a jumper by Villanova’s Brianna Herlihy with 27 seconds left to propel the Owls to a 68-62 Big 5 victory over the Wildcats.

Temple (3-3, 1-0 Big 5) was clinging to a 62-60 lead when Williamson recorded her only blocked shot. Aniya Gourdine hit four free throws in the final 14 seconds to seal the victory.

Gourdine hit a jumper with 1:24 left to put the Owls up for good, 6260. She led Temple with 17 points. Williamson added 16, Jasha Clinton 11 and Mia Davis 10 for the Owls.

Lior Garzon paced Villanova (23, 2-1) with a game-high 22 points. Herlihy added 14 points and Bella Runyan 13.

STETSON 51, SAINT JOSEPH’S 48 » Kita Turner and Ayanna Dublin hit two free throws each in the final 16 seconds left to secure the win for the Hatters (4-2). Yazz Wazeerud-Din led Stetson with a game-high 18 points. Dublin finished with 10 points.

Olivia Mullins netted a careerhigh 11 points for the Hawks (1-5). Alayna Gribble chipped in with nine.

DREXEL 63, FRESNO STATE 46 » Tessa Brugler overcame first-half foul trouble to record her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Hannah Nihill (Cardinal O’Hara AllDelco) led the Dragons (4-2) with 15 points and three assists to move into sixth place with 386 career helpers. Keishana Washington added 13 points, seven assists.

MEMPHIS 71, PENN 68 » Maya Stovall’s layup with 38 seconds left in overtime put the Tigers up for good in the LMU Thanksgivi­ng Classic.

Kayla Padilla topped Penn with a game-high 36 points. She also had five assists and four rebounds. Jordan Obi added 11 points and five rebounds for the Quakers (4-2).

Jordan D’Ambrosio (Springfiel­d) scored 20 points and grabbed five rebounds but it wasn’t enough as the Pride fell in the first round of the Penn State-Harrisburg Tournament. Nicole Barnes chipped in with 13 points. Widener faces Pitt-Bradford in Sunday’s thirdplace game.
