No. 16 St. Bonaventur­e loses for the first time this season

OLEAN, N.Y. » AJ Green scored 35 points with four assists to lead Northern Iowa to a 90-80 win over No. 16 St. Bonaventur­e on Saturday.

Austin Phyfe and Nate Heise each had 15 points as the Panthers (2-3) beat a ranked opponent for the first time since 2019 at thenNo. 23 Colorado.

Green did most of his damage from 3-point territory, making a career-best 9 of 15, to match his career high for scoring. The preseason player of the year in the Missouri Valley Conference was 8 of 28 from long range in Northern Iowa’s first four games.

Kyle Lofton had 21 points, seven assists and four steals for St. Bonaventur­e (5-1).

(2) UCLA 73, UNLV 51 » Jules Bernard scored 18 points and had two blocks to lead UCLA (6-1) over UNLV (4-3).

The Bruins shot 47% from the field and from 3-point range. Tyger Campbell had 15 points and Johnny Juzang and Jaime Jaquez each added 12 points each.

PENN STATE 60, OREGON STATE 45 » Jalen Pickett scored 14 points, Penn State (4-2) made 12 3-pointers, and the Nittany Lions defeated Oregon State (1-6), the final day of the Emerald Coast Classic in DEstin, Fla.

Penn State made 12 of 30 from 3-point distance and had more 3-pointers than twopoint field goals (10). Oregon State shot 30% from the field, made 4 of 17 3-pointers and scored just 17 points in the first half.

Seth Lundy had 13 points and seven rebounds for Penn State. Myles Dread had 12 points. Pickett made 5 of 7 3-pointers and had seven assists.

Maryland was short-handed to begin with as only seven players were dressed because of illness and injuries. Point guard Ashley Owusu battled through foul trouble to lead the Terrapins with 29 points.
