It’s time to wake up, America!
Folks, we have another potential crisis facing us, China. The new weapon they have must be taken seriously. They could and would destroy our infrastructure and grid! This administration has done a poor job rebuilding our military, China now has a larger Navy than the Untied States. Wake up, Mr. President, wake up Congress, do your jobs or get the hell out of the way and let people in there that will not only protect us but restore respect to the greatest country in the world, the United States of America.
To the Times:
This is not the America I was born into 85 years ago. I can recall the days when the Blue Laws were in effect in Pennsylvania, Sunday was considered a day of worship and a day with the family. I came from an Irish-Catholic family in Ardmore. I remember going to Sunday Mass at St. Coleman’s in the one suit I had, and then having the main meal with the family in our Sunday dress at 1 p.m. There was no television, just radio, and that was off during dinner! No such thing as cell phones and computers.
When I was 17, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and spent the next three years of my life being a Marine. The two principles that were taught to me and that I practiced my whole life were never surrender and complete the mission. In those days men had to serve at least two years in the armed forces; Congress did away with that, big mistake! When I came out of the Marine Corps in 1957 I took the police exam in Lower Merion Township and was accepted in August 1957. I spent the next 8 years of my life as a Lower Merion police officer.
In those days the public had respect and support for the police. Sadly that no longer exist today. I actually I should not be here today writing this article. In 1961 I received a call that there had been a burglary on Andover Road in Penn Wynn. I responded, I had a hunch that they still may be in the area because it was early evening, so I went to the first dark house and not the crime scene. Sure enough I apprehended three armed burglars. One emptied his gun on me point blank. Because of a defective firing pin it did not discharge and kill me. By the way they got four to 20 years.
I left the police department and went into the restaurant and food business. Big mistake! I went broke, and I mean broke! Here I was married, two children, high school education, a mortgage and no job! This is where “never surrender and complete the mission” kicks in! I borrowed $300 from my good friend Harry Bradley and got my private detective license and opened up a security company. I put myself through polygraph school. Bottom line, I started from scratch and when I sold the company in 2002 we were doing $23 million a year. I never surrendered and completed the mission.
I was involved in Republican politics and was chairman of the Springfield Republican Party for 31 years. I always had friends on the other side and could reach out for support and they could to me as well. Today you do not have that — you have hate, people that outright lie to you. Yes,
it exist in both parties. I know this is going to get some people angry because they can’t handle the truth.
The extreme left and the extreme right must go. They are poison for America. They are causing decay. We hear horror stories about kids being brainwashed in’ schools. I have four American presidents that I have the greatest respect for, John Kennedy, Harry Truman, Ronald Regan, and George H. W. Bush. These great leaders would never allowed what is happening to our America — two Democrats and two Republicans that had the ability to reach across the aisle and complete the mission !
The hate factor was not prevalent then, Tip O’Neill, Democrat Speaker of the House who coined “all politics are local,” great friend of Ronald Regan, used to play cards at the White House. These guys did what was best for America. You can’t say that about the leaders today! Maybe the answer to today’s problem is allow one four-year term for the House and Senate, and that’s it.
Both parties have professional politicians that are running the show. Who is at fault that there had been a decay in the United States of America? You and I are at fault, because we let these left-wing and right-wing morons bamboozle us. We keep sending these destructive so called public officials back to Washington.

I will end with this verse of America: “Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple mountains majesties, above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed his grace on thee. And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea!”
