Racine’s 10 strikeouts, walk-off hit wins the day for Marple

Kelsey Racine and Brianna Kelly willed the Marple Newtown softball team to a 2-1 win in extra innings Tuesday.

Senior pitcher Racine delivered the walk-off hit in the bottom of the eighth off Cardinal O’Hara freshman ace Hayden Sissons. Racine went the distance on the mound, recording 10 strikeouts.

As for Kelly, she continues to hit the ball all over the place. In addition to blasting the game-tying home run in the fifth inning, the centerfiel­der smacked a double.

Sissons racked up 13 strikeouts in 7.2 innings and was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Maeve Boston and Caitlin Jordan each had two hits and an RBI for the Lions.

In the Ches-Mont League:

SUN VALLEY 10, GREAT VALLEY 1 » AllDelco Brianna Lawson cranked a grand slam for the Vanguards, highlighti­ng a three-hit afternoon. Sarah Powers and Jordyn Skarren also homered, while Ava Schmidt and Ally Sheppard each collected two hits. Devin Warner hurled a complete game with seven strikeouts.

In the Del Val League:

INTERBORO 14, CHICHESTER 2 » On senior day, the Bucs (11-3, 9-0) wrapped up a perfect run in the Del Val League.

Senior Dani Linker hit for the cycle and was the winning pitcher. Senior Jill Gray came on in relief and tossed two innings, allowing a hit and striking out three. Gray added two base knocks.

Mare Nagle tripled, doubled and scored four runs for the Bucs.

PENN WOOD 7, ACADEMY PARK 3 » Katelyn Tong dazzled from the circle with 14 strikeouts in a complete game win. She allowed no walks.

Jackie Young paced the Patriots at the dish, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Tong ripped an RBI triple and Charli Rylander provided two hits.

In the Inter-Ac League:

SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL ACADEMY 3, EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 2 » SCHA scored three two-out runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to hand EA its first loss in league play.

In the Central League:

PENNCREST 14, HARRITON 12 » Mattea Baumgardne­r was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, three runs scored, two stolen bases and a walk to lead the Lions to victory on senior night. Eliana Guerrieri was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, while Selena Psaris homered and tripled.

Baseball

Chichester clinched the Del Val League championsh­ip with a 20-0 trouncing of Penn Wood.

In his varsity debut, freshman pitcher Julian Sparks threw a one-hit shutout. Ian Merrin was 3-for-4 with five RBIs for the Eagles. Zach Gannon, Owen Valentine, Troy Neff, Josh Claycomb and AJ Ricco all collected two base knocks and three RBIs.

In the Central League:

RIDLEY 11, UPPER DARBY 0 » Connor Kelly, Ryan McNichol (two RBIs),

Dan Stickney and Mike Happersett (two runs) all had two hits for the Green Raiders. Bryant Cauthorn, Jeremy Stranix, Andrew Rowles and Happerset each doubled. McNichol legged out a triple.

Rocco Calise, Justin Meeley and Larry Rose combined to pitch a sixinning no-hitter.

In the Inter-Ac League: GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 5, HAVERFORD SCHOOL 2 » Mark Quantrani drove in two runs to give the Fords an early 2-0 lead but the Patriots tallied twice in the fifth inning and three times in the bottom of the sixth to seal the victory. Colby McNeely and Cole Donnelly had two hits each for Haverford School.

Girls Lacrosse

Abigail Blemings and Leila George came up big for the second day in a row as Bonner-Prendergas­t rolled over St. Hubert, 17-3, in the Catholic League.

Blemings collected four goals, two assists, six draw controls and three ground balls. George also had four goals to go with one assist, four draw controls and one ground ball.

In the Inter-Ac League:

AGNES IRWIN 20, BALDWIN 5 » A total of 12 players scored for the Owls led by Elle Brady with four goals and two assists. Marissa White totaled three goals, three ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover. Caroline Chisholm, Mariyn Dwyer and Quinn Wollard pitched in with two goals apiece.

EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 19, SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL ACADEMY 7 »

Alexa Capozzoli poured in five goals and scooped up three ground balls. Quinn Whitaker added four goals, seven draw controls, four ground balls, one assist and one caused turnover. Bella Piselli pitched in with three goals, two assists, two ground balls and one draw control.

NOTRE DAME 12, GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 9 » Kylee O’Donnell powered the Irish with four goals, two assists and three draw controls. Katie Onderdonk also scored four times and recorded eight draw controls. Aly Maguire pitched in with two goals.

In the Del Val League:

CHICHESTER 12, INTERBORO 7 »

Goalie Ava Royer made 12 saves, but it wasn’t enough to lift the Bucs to victory. Bri Maddonni and Jules Wiseley led the offense with two goals each.

Boys Lacrosse

Colin Hannigan scored once and was 17-for-21 in the face-off circle to lift Springfiel­d to a 13-7 decision over Penncrest in the Central League.

Ty Gougler powered the offense with three goals and three assists. Jimmy Kennedy also scored three times and handed out two assists. Bryan Seavey collected two goals and one assist and Sean Davidson pitched in with a pair of goals.

Jason Poole finished with two goals and one assist and Dylan Mcdougall added two goals for the Lions.

MARPLE NEWTOWN 19, STRATH HAVEN 7 » The Tigers scored eight times in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Brian Box powered the offense with seven goals and one assist. Joey Yukenevitc­h (two assists) and Brian Box (one assist) pitched in with four goals each. Alex Chambers was 24-for-26 on face-offs.

Austin Conner had three goals and one assist and Jamison Soeiro tallied two goals for the Panthers.

GARNET VALLEY 19, HAVERFORD 6 »

Max Busenkell paired three goals with four assists to pace the Jaguars. Joey Halloran added three goals and three assists. Andrew Goldt posted four goals and Luke Miginoli tallied three times.

Jack McGarvey and Eric Resinwitz had two goals each for the Fords.

Boys Tennis

Harron Naz and Christian Crowder led a clean sweep of the doubles competitio­n to power Haverford School to a 5-2 victory over Episcopal Academy in the Inter-Ac League.

Naz and Crowder won 6-2, 6-2 at first doubles. Damion Ferraro and Gabe Crowder pulled out a 7-6, 6-7, 14-12 decision at third doubles.

Niki Lavu and Gavin Schmidt won at second and third singles for EA.
