SEVEN IN SEVEN

- By Michael Christopher

Welcome to Seven in Seven, where each week in this space we’ll be taking a look at shows coming to the region over the next week. As always, whether your musical tastes are rock ’n’ roll, jazz, heavy metal, R&B, singer-songwriter or indie, there’ll always be something to check out.

Here are seven of the best on the docket for the week of May 13:

There was something about the inherent darkness in their music, the air of dismissiveness and frosty nature that drew in fans of long-ago post-punk rock like Joy Division and early Cure. Now two decades into their career, the band are preparing to release their seventh studio album, “The Other Side of Make-Believe,” in mid-summer. The current tour is to showcase some of those new tracks as well as revisit some classics like “Slow Hands,” “PDA” and “Evil.”

Expect the Space Ace to dish out a generous helping of Kiss songs from his era in the band, along with some solo songs and a cover or two along with his — quite literally — explosive shredding.
