Sharon Hill man arrested for December shooting
Charged with attempted murder, assault
SHARON HILL » Police have arrested a 19-year-old borough man on attempted homicide and related charges for a December shooting involving a juvenile, Police Chief Richard Herron Jr. announced Wednesday.
“I personally commend the hard work and dedication of Detectives (Sean) Johnson, (Vincent) Procopio and (Vincent) Port who never gave up on the case,” said Herron in a release. “I would also like to thank the residents and business owners of the Sharon Hill community who came forward to assist the investigation with valuable information. This is a true example of the police and community working together to take a dangerous criminal off the streets.”
Dahmar Redd is charged with attempted murder, simple and aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and firearms offenses, according to online court records.
The assault took place in the 900 block of Chester Pike, according to the release. Responding officers found a juvenile victim a few blocks away suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, who was transported to a local trauma center for treatment, the release says.
Investigators gathered evidence including video footage from local businesses and witness assistance, Herron said, and used digital forensic analysis
and assistance from Pennsylvania State Parole in identifying Redd as a suspect.
Redd was arraigned Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Tammi L. Forbes, who set bail at 10% of $500,000. Redd was out on parole for a 2019 armed robbery in Collingdale,
so he has also been held on a parole detainer, according to the release.
Daily Times archives indicate Redd was one of three juveniles who entered a T-Mobile store on the 1200 block of MacDade Boulevard Feb 2, 2019, and forced employees and a customer into the rear of the store at gunpoint.
The trio made off with $20,000 to $30,000 worth of phones, but were arrested after a police chase that went into Philadelphia, according to the archives. Redd was charged with robbery and conspiracy, but juvenile records including adjudications are not available online.
Redd is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Forbes on May 25, according to online court records. No defense attorney is listed.
