Frye, Poehner boost Springfiel­d softball past Interboro

Ryleigh Frye had two hits and two RBIs and Skyler Poehner added two hits and an RBI as Springfiel­d bested Interboro, 7-4, in nonleague softball action Thursday.

The Bucs managed 10 hits, yet the Cougars’ Amaya Hartung hung in for the win.

Interboro’s Ava Rudolph had three of the Bucs’ hits and scored two runs.

In other nonleague softball: GARNET VALLEY 16, CHICHESTER 0 » Emily Orsini had two hits and five RBIs and pitchers Anna Sidlowski and Ragan Bliss teamed up to blank the Eagles.

Sidlowski went four innings, striking out five Chi batters. Garnet Valley’s Zoey Rogers knocked in a pair of runs. Rogers went 3-for-4 to help her pitching colleague.

Sydney Scarpato had the only hit for Chi.

UNIONVILLE 9, SUN VALLEY 0 » Brianna Lawson closed out her outstandin­g career with three hits, giving her 104 in 60 games for the Vanguards in a losing effort.

Melana Timmes added two hits and Jordyn Skarren and Sarah Powers picked up a hit apiece as Sun Valley finished the season with an 8-12 record.

Baseball

Jayson Hailey fanned six and allowed two hits to lift Penn Wood to a 6-1 victory over Chester in the Del Val League.

Kelvin Lendeh paced the offense with a double and two stolen bases.

In nonleague action: SPRINGFIEL­D 5, CHICHESTER 4 » Joey Little gave the Cougars the walk-off victory with an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Matt Bean, Ronnie DeLollis, Luke Jones and Ethan Marshall knocked in one run each for Springfiel­d. Sean Williams paced a nine-hit attack with a pair of safeties.

Owen Valentine was 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the Eagles, while Jason Hankins knocked in a pair of runs.
