MARPLE » Compassus Hospice in Newtown Square recently honored patient Pati Kreisher for her service to the Marple Newtown School District as the district’s first female School Resource Officer. Marple Township Police Chief Brandon Graeff presented Kreisher with a plaque for her service to the Marple Police Department and the Marple Newtown School District. He also gave her laminated copies of her original job applications to the department.

Kreisher speaks very fondly about working in Marple Newtown High School. When she first accepted the position, they did not even have a uniform for her and she walked the halls in jeans and a T-shirt for the first three weeks on the job. Kreisher said that did not believe in carrying a weapon in the school, and relied on her wits to de-escalate issues. She had applied twice for the job. As she was being honored earlier this month, she evoked laughs when she asked Graeff if she had told any lies on her application.

Marple Newtown School Superintendent Dr. Tina Kane offered remarks about Kreisher’s importance as a role model to young students, who were inspired to see a female in a nontraditional role. Kane stated that Kreisher’s service challenged young women, including Kane, to believe in their dreams. Kane gifted Kreisher with a bag of Tiger swag, which the honoree quickly donned with great pride.
