Gougler, Springfiel­d roll to victory over Central York

Springfiel­d made quick work of Central York in the first round of the PIAA Class 3A tournament Tuesday night.

Tyler Gougler led the scoring parade with two goals and five assists in a 15-3 pasting of the District 3 side.

Jimmy Kennedy and Sean Donaldson added hat tricks, with Kennedy chipping in an assist. Matt Dickinson had two goals and an assist. Colin Hannigan scored to cash in his 17-for-19 day at the faceoff X for the District 1 third-place team.

Also in the 3A tournament:

Goldstein had two goals and four assists — on the first four goals of the game — to help the District 1 champs top the Patriots for the second time in 10 days. Mason Montrella led a procession of 10 goalscorer­s with two goals. Max Goldstein added a goal and an assist.

In the 2A tournament:

MARPLE NEWTOWN 22, CRESTWOOD 2 » Charlie Box scored five goals to go with an assist, and the Tigers pitched a second-half shutout behind five saves from Jack Welsh.

Damien Bogsch tallied four goals and two assists. Joey Yuknevitch and Ryan Keating each posted hat tricks, with Yuknevitch added three assists. Alex Chambers went 15-for-22 at the X.

Girls Lacrosse

Kaitlin Nieczpiel scored the 100th goal of her career as Strath Haven eased to a 12-7 win over Susquehann­ock in the first round of the PIAA Class 2A tournament.

Nieczpiel had a goal and an assist to go with seven draw controls for last year’s 2A runner-up, which led 11-2.

Julia Steer scored two goals and three assists, Grace Kelly netted a hat trick and Laura Conner had two goals and two assists.

Mia Yancey turned aside 12 shots.

In the Class 3A tournament:

Kate Stankavage scored five times including the 100th of her career to send the Jaguars into the quarterfin­als. Stankavage also had six draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnovers.

Sophie Kingsborog­h also tallied five times and added two caused turnvoers and one draw control. Mia Raucci, Maddie Shoemaker and Mia Zebley pitched in with three goals each. Garnet Valley will take on Owen J. Roberts, which won by forfeit over Central.
