-

Doris Hinerdeer LeGrand, 90, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022 in Media, PA. Born on December 7th, 1931, she was one of five children born to Laura Adams Hinerdeer and Henry Hinerdeer. Born and raised in Lancaster, PA, Doris graduated from Millersville State Teachers College, where she met her forever love, Joseph Andrew LeGrand. They married in August 1953 and began an adventurous life together. Joe started a business that year and Doris taught 2nd grade. In 1955, they moved for a year to Montreal, Quebec to expand the company. Upon returning to the U.S. they started their family. Doris left teaching for over 15 years in order to be a stay at home mother, a role she excelled in. Joe contracted Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and passed away just shy of their 30th anniversary. Thus began a new chapter in her life characterized by volunteering, traveling and grandmothering. Doris served as a volunteer at Riddle Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. She was blessed with many close friends who enriched her years. Doris traveled far and wide with her friends. She was a wonderfully loving grandmother and great grandmother, evidenced by numerous items emblazoned with “World’s Best Nana” on them. Each grandchild cherished her and

every moment with her. Together they baked sand tarts at Christmas, enjoyed regular family vacations, and played hours and hours of games.

Doris will be remembered for lots of great things. She was very wise and positive. Right now, as we mourn her passing, she would likely say “tomorrow is another day”. She was predeceased by her brother Donald Hinerdeer and sister Gladys Long and grandson Travis Jensen. She is survived by her brother, Harold Hinerdeer (wife Annette) and sister, Shirley Krentz, her three children - Joseph A. LeGrand, Jr. (wife Debbi), Laura Ruth Jensen, and David Glenn LeGrand ( wife Niki) , grandchildren Adam, Nicholas, Russell, Delaney, Noah and Alise, great grandchildren Audrey, Parker and Lincoln and her many friends in and out of Lima Estates. The family would like to suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Parkinson’s Foundation. www.loganfuneralhomes.com
