Upper Darby School District welcomes two middle school principals

Upper Darby School District is welcoming two new principals to the vital job at district middle schools this summer.

Beginning in July, Wayne Remmey will take over as the principal of Beverly Hills Middle School and Jill Palladino will serve as the principal of Drexel Hill Middle School.

Remmey comes to Beverly Hills after being assistant principal at the high school since 2018. He first came to the Upper Darby as a math teacher in the high school in 2005 straight out of Temple University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education.

During his career in the district he has taught nearly every math course that Upper Darby High School offers and has held various leadership positions including lead teacher, mathematic­s department chair and assistant athletics director.

While teaching, Remmey continued his education and earned a Master’s degree in education from Neumann University as well as his principal certificat­ion from Cabrini University.

He is married and his wife Kelly have three young children, Emily, 4, William, 3, and Rylee,1, and in his free time he enjoys cheering on the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, Union and Flyers.

Remmey said he truly believes all students can achieve excellence and he prides himself on the relationsh­ips he builds with students, families, community and staff during his time in the Upper Darby School District.

Palladino has served in the Upper Darby School District for 14 years. Her first position in the district was as an Emotional Support Program teacher at Hillcrest Elementary School. In 2010 she became a Learning Support teacher

at Westbrook Park Elementary School.

In 2007, she received her Master’s degree in Special Education from Wilmington

University, while teaching full time.

She transition­ed to Upper Darby High School to become the Special Education

Department Chair in 2014, then was appointed as assistant principal in the 2016-2017 and finally as assistant principal of climate and culture in 2019.

“Her skilled leadership and experience made her a wonderful choice to become the next principal at Drexel Hill,” said John Council, assistant superinten­dent of personnel and equity, in announcing her appointmen­t.

When not busy in the school district, Palladino enjoys spending time with her husband Jeff and two children, Joey and Stella.

District officials plan a meet and greet with the new principals this summer.
