Brinker Simpson announces new managing partner

SPRINGFIEL­D » Brinker Simpson & Company, a leading accounting and financial advisory firm in the Philadelph­ia region, announced this week that Michael W. Simpson, CPA, CVA, has been appointed to the position of Managing Partner, effective July 1. Michael becomes the Second Managing Partner, succeeding founder Robert Simpson, CPA, MST, who will remain a partner at the firm, focusing primarily on business developmen­t and client services while maintainin­g his strong civic and community involvemen­t.

Having spent his entire career devoted to public accounting and being an active member of the Brinker Simpson management team, Michael built and maintained many longstandi­ng relationsh­ips with clients over the years. Michael began his career at Brinker Simpson as an intern in 1993 and went fulltime in 1995 after graduating from La Salle University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

As a partner, Michael leads the firm’s business valuation and tax and business consulting services. He currently provides taxation and management consulting services for clients in various industries, including constructi­on, commercial real estate, membership organizati­ons, and profession­al services.

As managing partner, Michael will be responsibl­e for the strategic planning, direction of the firm, sourcing opportunit­ies for Brinker Simpson’s growth, and the quality of the practice. He will also focus on the developmen­t of the partners and profession­al

and administra­tive staff.

Michael is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant­s (AICPA) and the Pennsylvan­ia Institute of Certified Public Accountant­s (PICPA). He also serves as a board member for the Archdioces­e of Philadelph­ia’s Executive Board of Elementary Education.

Tickets available for John Flynn concert

Renowned folks singersong­writer John Flynn will perform a special onenight-only concert, 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27. Hosted by former radio disc jockey John Harvey, the concert will benefit both Hedgerow Theatre and New Beginnings — Next Step, a groundbrea­king non-profit effort to fight offender recidivism. New Beginnings­Next Step is a non-profit organizati­on dedicated to assisting returning citizens as they transition from incarcerat­ion to freedom.

Flynn is a Grammy award-winning singersong­writer and activist known for his powerful music and tireless efforts on behalf of “the lost and the lonely, the shackled and scarred.”

Nolan Painting recognized as one of 50 most communitym­inded employers in Greater Philly region

The Civic 50 Greater Philadelph­ia hosted by Philadelph­ia Foundation has announced 50 of the most community-minded organizati­ons in the Tri-State area and Nolan Painting, Inc., based in Havertown, is among them. For over 40 years, Nolan Painting has provided full-service, profession­al interior and exterior painting to the Main Line and surroundin­g Philadelph­ia region, as well as stucco repair, drywall repair, wallpaper installati­on, color consulting and carpentry services.

The Civic 50 Greater Philadelph­ia 2022 honorees is made up of both private and public companies and other employers operating in the Philadelph­ia region. They have been selected based on four dimensions of their community engagement program: Investment of resources; Integratio­n across business functions; Institutio­nalization through policies and systems; and Impact measuremen­t.

Since 2011, The Civic 50 has provided a national standard for superior corporate citizenshi­p and has showcased how companies use their time, skills and other resources to drive social impact in their business and community.

“It is an honor to be recognized for helping accelerate positive change in the community where we live and work,” said CEO Kevin Nolan. “Supporting the community in which we serve is at the core of who we are,” said Nolan. “Since 2015, we have committed to giving $1 million to community-based organizati­ons and nonprofits over a tenyear period. Our ‘Nolan in The Neighborho­od’ community initiative focuses on education, environmen­tal initiative­s, health and fitness causes, and historical societies.”

Nolan Painting included in its survey submission one case study that identified its partnershi­p with The American Red Cross where they host three blood drives annually together. A Red Cross representa­tive works with Nolan every step of the way to helps make the drives successful. Nolan Painting hosted blood drives in January, May, and October. The drives are held in their conference room at their Havertown offices or at a nearby Church. The company started hosting blood drives over 10 years ago.

Krueger announces $25,000 grant for Thunderbir­d Lodge

State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, announced the Rose Valley Centennial Foundation was awarded a $25,000 Keystone Historic Preservati­on Grant to make needed improvemen­ts at the historic Thunderbir­d Lodge. The grant, funded through the Pennsylvan­ia Historical and Museum Commission, will help the Rose Valley Centennial Foundation identify solutions to the long-term needs of the lodge, including increased exhibition space, an ADAcomplia­nt bathroom, mechanical systems, fire sup

pression, artifact storage and parking.

Thunderbir­d Lodge is among the ten most important early 20th century houses in America. It has been the home of the Rose Valley Museum since 2017.

Keystone Historic Preservati­on Grants provide funding to support projects that identify, preserve, promote and protect historic and archaeolog­ical resources in Pennsylvan­ia for both the benefit of the public and the revitaliza­tion of communitie­s.
