Havertine nearly perfect for Wayne Legion in win over Narberth

Blake Havertine threw four hitless innings out of the bullpen to give the Wayne Wolverines their second win in as many nights in the Main Line Senior Legion with a 3-1 triumph over Narberth Friday night.

Havertine faced just 12 hitters in relief of starter Ryan McWilliams. He did give up a baserunner on an error but threw a ground ball to erase that threat. Havertine also drove in what proved to be the winning run with a single in the third inning. Eddie Kohn and Kyle Miltenberg­er also knocked in one run each. Jake Lovenguth went 3-for-3 for the winners.

A day earlier, Evan Hartman went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to help the Wolverines snap a five-game winless streak with a 12-4 decision over Concord. Wayne broke the game open with six runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Danny Armstrong chipped in with two RBIs. McWilliams was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Kohn scored three times and Henry Faragalli crossed the plate twic. Andrew Barbarisi allowed five hits, three earns rund and struck out seven in 5.2 innings to get the win. Danny Armstrong gave up one hit and fanned two to close it out.

WAYNE 4, UPPER DARBY 2 » Jayce Tharnish collected three hits, one RBI and one run scored to help Wayne bounce back from its first loss of the season.

Luke Mutz pitched in with two hits. Matt Briner, Steven Wells and Jake Siani drove in one run each. Anthony Ehly allowed two hits, one run and struck out eight over five innings to get the win.

Corey Woodcock was 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored for the Black Sox.
