Police blotter: Hit-and-run probe continues

Springfiel­d police have released their weekly press blotter.

Hit-and-run

On Aug. 22 at 8:19 a.m. officers were called to State Road near Springfiel­d Road to investigat­e a crash involving a vehicle that struck three cars and the driver fled south. The vehicle drove over a grass median and continued in opposing lanes of travel to leave the scene. Delaware County sheriff’s deputies observed the striking vehicle stopped on Route 1 near Middletown. A 45-year-old male from Philadelph­ia was taken into custody and charged with hit-and-run, and other traffic offenses will be filed.

Catalytic converter stolen

On Aug. 22, a business on the 900 block of West Sproul Road reported one of its delivery vans had its catalytic converter stolen sometime over the weekend.

DUI

On Aug. 22 at 1:38 p.m., a 42-year-old male from Drexel Hill was taken into custody after appearing intoxicate­d and crashing at Baltimore Pike and Norwinden Drive. He submitted to a blood test, and charges for DUI are pending.

Theft

On Aug. 22 at 4:52 p.m., a 63-year-old male from Sharon Hill was stopped by Macy’s security after he stole numerous sunglasses totaling more than $1,450. He was taken into custody and released. Charges for retail theft will be filed.

Break-in

On Aug. 24 at 5:37 a.m., a resident of an apartment in the 400 block of East Woodland Avenue reported a male subject gained access to her first-floor balcony in the afternoon. It was unknown if he gained access to the apartment, and nothing was known to be missing.

Unlocked cars entered

On Aug. 25 at 10:26 a.m., a resident reported two unlocked vehicles were entered overnight in the 400 block Blair Road. A small amount of coins was taken from one.

2 TVs shoplifted

On Aug. 25, a Target security guard at Springfiel­d Mall reported a female was stopped after she stole two television­s. The 45-year-old from Chester was taken into custody and found to have an active arrest warrant from Brookhaven. She was turned over to Brookhaven police and charges for retail theft will be filed.

Underage drinking

Underage males from California and North Carolina were stopped after being observed in the 600 block of Baltimore Pike carrying alcoholic beverages at 8:13 p.m. on Aug. 25. One was found to be in possession of false identifica­tion that he had used to purchase the beverages.

Both will be cited for underage drinking.

Teens threaten driver

On Aug. 25 at 10:10 p.m., a driver reported that a group of juveniles blocked her way in the 200 block of South Rolling Road and started banging on and walking on her car. One male got into the back seat of the car. Responding officers located the group and identified three males from Springfiel­d as the suspects. The three were taken into custody and turned over to their parents. Charges for harassment and disorderly conduct will be filed.

Overturned vehicle, DUI

On Aug. 25 at 11:39 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block North State Road to investigat­e a crash involving an overturned vehicle and the driver trapped. The driver was assisted out of the vehicle and found to be intoxicate­d. The 65-year-old male from Linwood was taken to a hospital for treatment and submitted to a blood test. Charges for DUI are pending.

Theft

On Aug. 27 at 6:05 p.m., officers responded to Chuck E. Cheese in the 300 block of Baltimore Pike for a fight call. They located several subjects outside holding a female. Chuck E. Cheese employees said that the female stole a customer’s purse and tried to run out of the store. The 30-year-old suspect from Philadelph­ia was taken into custody and later released. Theft charges are pending.

Trespass

On Aug. 28 at 11:22 a.m., a 29-year-old male was taken into custody after trespassin­g on a property in the 600 block of Sherman Road. The male was also found to have an active arrest warrant from Chester County and was turned over to Chester County authoritie­s.
