Ruth K. Kearney (nee Hartung)

Ruth K. Kearney (nee Hartung), 92, of Springfield, PA passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2023.

Ruth was the daughter of the late Philipp and Emmy (Fleckenstein) Hartung and was born in Germany. She graduated from High School. She met & married her husband, William Kearney ( an American Soldier) in Germany in 1948. She arrived in America on Christmas Eve 1948, where she raised her family & later worked at Strawbridge & Clothier for 25yrs.

She was a member of St. Dorothy’s Parish. She enjoyed spending time with her family & friends. Also she loved listening to her album collection & spending vacations in Cape May looking at the ocean & trips to Lancaster County. She liked going to the casino & playing Rummy. She also loved talking about her memories & her family in Germany. She had a great sense of humor & loved to laugh. She really enjoyed her dog’s Daisy-Lu & Ollie.

Ruth was the beloved wife of the late William E. Kearney; Loving Mother of William R. (Joyce) Kearney, Joyce K. (Rudolf) Honyak, Glenn P. Kearney Sr., the late Ronald F. Kearney; Motherin-law of Jean-Ann. Cherished Grandmother of 8 Grandchildren and predeceased by one, the late Jennifer Ann Kearney. Also survived by 8 Great Grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister Maria Louise “Mary” Ganderton. Also survived by many Nieces & Nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Thursday February 23, 2023 6pm O’Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd., Springfield, PA 19064 and Friday 9am St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Rd. Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Funeral Mass Friday 10:30am in the Church. Int. SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
