Safe boating class offered next to Ridley marina
The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators will offer a Boating Safety Education Class at the Water’s Edge, next to Ridley Township Municipal Marina, Saturday, March 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Attendees must be at least 12 years old.
The course is perfect for anyone who wishes to operate a powerboat, sailboat, kayak or jet ski to come learn the rules of the waterways, required equipment, and navigation aids.
A 50-question exam will follow the course. Instructor will be Waterways Conservation Officer Matthew Scott of the PA Fish and Boat Commission.
The associated is a national nonprofit that works to develop public policy for recreational boating safety. It represents the recreational boating authorities of all 50 states and the U.S. territories.
This course will be limited to the first 30 people. There is no cost to sign up. Register at 610-521-2800.
Still time left to register for Wallingford-Swarthmore Community Classes
Classes are filling fast, but spots are still available in select Wallingford Swarthmore Community Classes that will begin this month. People can register now to secure a place. Some of the open classes include:
• “Make the Most of Your iPhone,” will teach how to do more with an iPhone, including customizing with settings, widgets and the control center, plus taking, organizing and sharing photos. Class begins March 8.
• “Beginning Mah Jongg” will teach the basics and game strategy. Mah Jongg cards will be provided. Class begins March 6.
• “Introduction to Digital Photography” will teach camera operations, exposure, composition and picture optimization. Class begins March 6.
• “Tea or Tisane: What’s in Your Cup?” will explore the history, origins and different production styles of teas, can include tasting and a question and answer time. Class begins March 8.
• “Creative Writing Workshop” will provide a supportive environment for writers of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry and memoir. Class begins March 6.
• “Songwriting” will teach how to craft lyrics and melodies to create original songs. No musical experience is necessary and the class, which begins March 16, is open to adults and high school students.
• “Embroidered Embellishments” will teach how to decorate a shirt or light jacket with a variety of embroidery stitches. The class begins March 15.
• “Fiber Arts Clinic” will help attendees finish up a fiber arts project that they started but haven’t finished. Class begins March 13.
• “Knitted Comfort Creature” will teach how to make an adorable stuffed animal while practicing basic knitting skills. Students must be able to cast and work the knit stitch. Class begins March 15.
• “How to Cultivate Mindfulness in Your Life” will teach how to incorporate mindfulness into daily activities and build habits that promote health and happiness. Class begins March 16.
• “Pilates for Aging Gracefully” begins March 15 and is designed for older adults, teaching balance activities, proper breathing, postural and abdominal strengthening and more.
• “Building Habits to Happy and Healthy Through Mindfulness” is an overview of the power of mindfulness and its importance. Class begins March 22.
• “Spanish Wines” begins March 21. New technologies have fostered fruit-packed, fresh-tasting wines and this class will explore these new styles at this tasting event.

St. Stephen’s Church holds gift card bingo
St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Norwood, will hold a gift card bingo event, 7 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at Milmont Fire Company Hall, 714 Belmont Ave., Folsom.
The gift card bingo will have 10 rounds. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door if still available. The event will also have raffles, 5050 drawing, and door prizes.
