Temple routed by Cincinnati in AAC quarterfin­als

FORT WORTH, TEXAS » Landers Nolley II scored 22 points, Mika Adams-Woods and Dan Skillings Jr. each had 20, and fourth-seeded Cincinnati overwhelme­d Temple 84-54 Friday in the American Athletic Conference quarterfin­als.

Ody Oguama had 12 rebounds for the Bearcats (21-11), who finished strong after being down by 10 points less than seven minutes into the game.

Zach Hicks, Jamille Reynolds and Damian Dunn each had 12 points for Temple (16-16). Jahlil White added 10.

With Cincinnati down 16-6, Skillings scored seven in a row. The freshman guard had backto-back layups before making three free throws after being fouled shooting a 3.

Women’s Basketball

MONMOUTH 65, DREXEL 59 » Keishana Washington became the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer among Canadian players but it wasn’t enough as the Dragons fell in the quarterfin­als of the CAA Tournament.

Washington scored 32 points, her 12th game of 30 or more, to raise her career total to 2,320 and pass Karalyn Church of Vermont as the top women’s scorer among Canadian players. Kylie Lavelle added 14 points and Maura Hendrixson (Cardinal O’Hara AllDelco) handed out 12 assists.

The Dragons (21-9) got within 58-57 with 47 seconds to play but the Hawks (16-15) made 7 of 8 from the free throw line to advance to the semifinals.

The Tigers jumped out to a 19-2, firstquart­er lead and rode that fast start to a spot in the Ivy League championsh­ip game.

Senior captain Kayla Padilla led the Quakers (17-11) with 20 points. She hit three 3-pointers to raise her season total to a program best 79. Mandy McGuir (Notre Dame All-Delco) and Jordan Obi added seven points each.
